Out of curiosity, how are watches ugly?
>>54313371
Sell me that accutron or I'll be paying you a visit late one night
I'm considering getting the seiko ssb005 or the ssb011 for about 130€. Is this a good buy?
>>54313543
There might be more this year. Pic related.
>>54313908
Yes.
>>54313995
Not everyone finds a low battery life, electronic pocket watch convenient.
>>54314143
Which accutron? I just got the cushion cased one a couple days ago. I may end up returning it, as the seller said it was running well, but the seconds hand is skipping and it is very innacurate.
The seconds hand on my RR accutron skipped for a minute or so when I first installed the battery, and now it is fine, but the new one is having more issues. I am hoping it clears up, but I don't know if it will.
>>54314170
They are alright, chronographs are more expensive then other watch types, I'm aware of what they usually go for but hunt around, these are the types of seikos usually sold over priced in brick and mortar stores, I would usually advise to support small businesses, but when dealing with watches, use online
>>54314243
Didn't even see the second one, post a decent photo of the second one. Have been thinking about getting one for a while, price is typically a little daunting, how much did you score yours for?
>>54314382
I've been hunting, and that was the cheapest I could find, is it safe to consider websites other than amazon and ebay?
>>54314382
I'm not great at taking pictures. I hope I can get it running well, I checked the voltage on the battery, and it seems fine, but maybe I will try another one to be sure. If I can't get it working, I still have 30 days to return it.
I got it for $80. I have not gotten around to buffing the crystal yet.
I got my RR accutron for $140.
>>54314427
Yeah, I've bought all my new watches from Long Island watch. Com. Post it here if you are worried about it. Your price may be the best, but someone somewhere will be trying to wrought someone somewhere on one
>>54314428
Might buy one for $69. Will post pic in a sec
>>54314428

>>54314507

I doubt that even has a tuning fork movement too.
>>54314507
The RR accutron I got was listed for $299. I made an offer of $140 and the seller accepted it. I was a bit surprised that he did. You could try making some offers.
>>54314519
I would obviously check before pulling the trigger, what is the easiest way to tell?
>>54314521
Might give it a try then, cheers
>>54314562
Ask for the ref number, or for a pic of the movement.
>>54314569
Probably isn't, wouldn't mind a standard Quartz one, could probably pick one up for very cheap, but they lack meme value
>>54314764
Of course the preference is with a tuning fork, but my income is a little low at the moment
Final time l'll shill this before I'll flog it off on eBay (I promise)
$70
Make an offer, save me the hassle of making an eBay account and dealing with people retuning it over nonsense
Will promptly never post this again. Can give you better pics if you want
so in what way is the 36mm black bay better than sinn 556i at over double the price? not a joke question, i am actually concerned
>>54314983
The black bay is over priced. But I'm still a fan
>>54314983
No doubt the 556I is one of the great bargains in the watch world but the Tudor is targeting a different segment of the market. I'm going to try one on when they're available but I think how far the crown sticks out and the black anodized tube will probably prevent me from actually getting one.

What exactly is it that prevents companies from releasing vintage watches 1:1 or at least without changing key elements? Timeless designs don't need to be changed. People's wrists didn't get bigger. At least they could restrict the changes to the choice of color and finish. Do they not want to upset the collectors? Do they fear the vintage design conflicting with the current design language?
Kudos to Omega for still selling the Speedmaster with only minimal changes. Looking at the prices Heuer watches sell at Tag could re-release some iconic models and they would sell like hotcakes.
Or are people actually that big plebs that they are happy with the current watch designs and would not buy the vintage pieces?

Do you guys also buy underpriced vintage watches on eBay just for the sake of reselling them more expensive for the shekels?
I'm about to pull the trigger on a second Sturmanskie 3133 because I know I can easily resell it for maybe a 70% more of its current price like I did a week ago.

I have no idea why you sold the Shturmanskie, but a 8110A bullhead is a good choice. I'd get some vintage cheapo Swiss piece to spruce it up, or maybe a vintage GB made Timex.
As far as your NY0040 just take it to the watchmaker if it really bother you. Testing mine on the original rubber strap it came on, much comfier than the Z22.
>>54321109

>>54321212
>though i sway away from Raketas?

> have no idea why you sold the Shturmanskie
Don't tell anyone, but I sold it because the movement started to do a strange sound and thought it was a good idea to get rid of it before it exploded in my own hands. I contacted poljot24.de, who afaik are one of the few expert watchmakers who service the 3133 movement in Europe for below 80€, but didn't get any response from them. The buyer seems happy with the purhase, so there is no scam here. I just sold a fully functioning watch that needed a service anytime soon.

Can I replace the canvas strap on my SNZG15 with a steel bracelet?
I had a dream about a divers watch, the dial had a scenery on it, real coral and stuff like a tropical shallow ocean. It was beautiful
>>54323161
You would be hard pressed to find one that fits, either in endlinks or finishing.
I believe Watchadoo still sell their bead blasted bracelets, or you could get a SNZG13 strap bead blasted.

The Orient Star line has a couple of nice watches for women.
Otherwise search for women's Seiko 5.
>>54323818
Thanks for the recommendation. Not a lot of green available (there was one discontinued Seiko 5 with an emerald dial), but some of the silver Orients look good.
>>54323790
The citizen promaster line has women's divers, my brother got a matching pair for him and his girlfriend, very cute watch.
>>54323898
Why Green though?
>>54323790
Get her a vintage Soviet watch, my Raketa for example is cute and about 36mm. I may give it to my gf desu.
>>54323948
It's her favourite colour.
>>54323971
A 36mm watch might proportionally fit a woman the same way a 38 or 40mm or whatever watch would fit a man, and that's acceptable, but women usually wear watches that are proportionally much smaller on them than men's watches. That watch would probably be passable on a woman but it would look like she was wearing her boyfriend's watch, something like 34mm to 30mm or even smaller would probably look more feminine.
>>54323987

Seriously why do people bid on eBay? Why doesn't everyone just snipe?
eBay would much more fun and you could get watches for less, bidding you just act like a retard, increasing the final price you are paying and attracting more people into the auction.
I wish all eBay users knew how to snipe REEEEEEEEEEEE
>>54324275
Deutschanon did you already lose the bid on the Citizen chronograph?
>>54324275

>>54324374
Yes
>>54324385
I do perfectly know how it works, I'm just saying that if everyone sniped it would be a fairer system, everyone send the final price he's willing to pay and if you get to offer the highes amount of money, you end up paying the second highest offer. If everyone did it in the last couple of seconds it would be much better, less bidders and people offer what they really want to spend without competing with other people.
>>54324397
>he doesn't know about gixen
>>54324455

Didn't realise the Swiss had such a large share of vintage divers, thought seiko would be a good option considering their history with dive watches. Vosok, has, was and always will make ugly watches, but that is the appeal of them
>>54324500
>The only positive is it decreases the amount of bidding wars.
That has definitely a huge impact on the final price, less bidding wars = lower prices.
>>54324400
I got a fake one and I'm afraid of being mistaken as a queer if I wear it.
>>54324526
Yes. But if you're already out before the end, there is little chance you were going to win that item anyway.
Also, I'm confident there's not a lot of people bidding on a used Citizen cronograph.
>>54324514
>Amphibias are ugly
>>54324569
I'm here to remember you that carbon > inox.
>>54324514
I'm give you a couple of hints as far as euro divers go.
Search for Sicura, Mortima and other somewhat unknown brands that i can't recall off the top of my head.
>>54324569
Was going to include with the exception of the 420 scuba dude. Was going to buy one a while back. Can you give a run down on vintage ampibias anyway?
>>54324557
>But if you're already out before the end, there is little chance you were going to win that item anyway.
Not exactly, most bidders bid like every 20 min and increase the offer by a couple of euros/dollars/pounds. These retards enjoy doing this instead of sending their best offer just once. If they didn't bid that much, everyone except the seller would win.
>I'm confident there's not a lot of people bidding on a used Citizen cronograph.
You'd be surpirsed, there's a incredibly huge internet community who circleerk jerk themselves with these watches and the Seiko ones.
My bid had probably like 25 bidders because it was a orange dial one, but the "panda" ones as they call them (black and white) usually have over 70 bidders.
>>54324586
I agree, I just bought it because I love blue and they don't offer this color with the carbon blades.
>>54324613
There is literally no point in buying a vintage amphibia watch, their built quality and steel are worse and their movements are really beat up. Don't forget about their lack of water resistance after so many years.

Well it shouldn't be hard to sharpen considered how fucking thin the blade is.
Anyway Opinel is top notch price/quality. I've had mine for 10 years, had a friend brute force the lock and it stills going strong.
>>54324679
The build quality is better, and the earlier handwound movements are much more bulletproof.
Condition may vary indeed, but that's all about how well you're will to search for a non~franken one that is also in good shape.
>>54324679

>>54324731
Ukrainian specials are common frankens, repainted dials with movements in dubious conditions. Though as long as they aren't rusty they will work.
Now unless you just want a regular used Amphibia, you should search for the older case styles that house the 2209/2214 movements or the more unique older case styles. There is the older Neptune styled case that has the unique black bezel, the crab case,Albatross case to name a few off the top of my head. Older 420 Amphibia's with the original blue scuba dude instead of the teal like in pic related are also an option.
Lot's of options m8
>>54324795
Ah, should have mentioned that the earlier 2209/2214 powered ones come in either the original barrel case or ones with the unusual lugs like pic related.
>>54324809
These must be pretty rare since I've seen asap31 selling some of them for 1000€, insane.
>>54324883

>>54324923

Unless that's a 2627 or in pristine condition, you might have overpaid.
And if you want a 420 case then just buy a modern one. They are 60~70$ shipped, throw the bracelet into the recycle bin and slap it on a nato of choice.
>>54324952

>>54324979

>>54324586
The only problem is carbon has a big CARBONE on the handle and the blade that just ruins the looks. Other than that it's superior. I just want one that says Opinel - France on the blade and I'd be fine.

RHD makes good deployants but his single-folds are 16mm only. Not sure i would trust any watch on a generic deployant.
>>54325955
Was looking at those, but the strap I have is 18mm. Hirsch makes a single fold clasp in 18mm, but I'd prefer having no logo on it.
>>54325891
No. Look at the amount of people wearing cheap Eaglemoss Fliegers, Zeppelins, look at the Kraut to Allies ratio at every reenactment event, look at the sheer number of scale model Tigers, kraut armor, figures and planes on the shelf of a hobby shop. The masses are so naziboo every hobby industry involving XX. century history has to cater to them.
I come from scale modeling, the total number of released Tiger kits are well over a hundred by now, with literally every version and subversion reproduced, yet there's like one decent kit of the T-55, one of the most produced tanks in history, used by around 50 countries.
