my gtx670 is still kicking strong. I really don't any reason to upgrade. I can play games at 1440p.
should I wait for the 980's to lower in price, maybe by this time next year? they should be half the price they are now
It sounds like you answered your own question, why even make a post?
If your current card still perform well, just wait for new tech or for the current line to get cheaper.

well what does everyone else do? seems like everyone here just buy the latest and greatest and dumps their old cards.
Use /sqt/

They are a loud minority. It's not interesting to talk about older cards, but they are still the vast majority.
>tfw using a 670 and getting antsy for the Polaris 10 possibly offering 980ti performance at $300-$400

660 ti user here
is it worth upgrading to any of the AMD 300 or Nvidia 900s series? I was gonna aim for either the 380x or 970. I play at 1080.
>>54305154
>1440p
>2gb
Yeah in older games maybe
my 770 4gb is struggling to keep under 4gb and get 60fps at 1080p but thats the games i play
>>54305154
I don't believe you can play modern games at 1440p , high settings and hit 60 FPS. 30 maybe, but definitely not 60.
But what do I know you could be happy with that.
>kicking strong
What the fuck does that mean?
>>54305154
> I can play games at 1440p.
You can, but not at max settings, if you are fine with that though, stick with the card.
I used it for a long time and it was a fine cards, not I'm using a 780ti which replaced it.
>1440p
>980's to lower in price
It wont lower in price. Retailers might sell their last stock little cheaper when new cards replace it.
That card plays Arma2 and Stalker in 2560x1600 no problem, so no, you should not upgrade, because there is nothing more recent (that needs gpu rops) worth playing.

Also, GTX670 still has better Opengl performance than any AMD card (especially on linux).
>>54306779
Complete nonsense. 970 is shit and rebrands also, the 380X has barely more performance.
>>54306829
I used a 670 for 4K Mass Effect 3 and Warframe once, it maxes both stable. But Warframe got some updates in the meanwhile. I now use a 780Ti with infinite OC until Bigpascal arrives. Would have gone with a 290X without Gsync.

>I used a 670 for 4K Mass Effect 3 and Warframe once, it maxes both stable
No it doesn't
>>54307215
Why do you know that? I played both games in native resolution with a EVGA 670 2GB, around 1100 MHz.
Warframe doesn't work with AA that is right, then you will have 45-50 FPS. Otherwise these cards aren't ment for 4K or even 2K either, you should not use anything below a 780.
Nvidia is gonna beat AMD once more and will release the first 16nm chips.
>>54308372
And AMD is releasing a 14nm chip, polaris.
>>54308418
14nm-16nm is not a big difference.
Polaris won't be top performance cards.
Wait until October-November for sales
