these are good suggestions. I use Arc theme - Darker and Paper Icons. Numix Circle are also good icons
I also use Croscore fonts and the marco-compton option in Mate-Tweak; If I was on a desktop I'd use compiz. It runs fine on the laptop but it uses too any resources to justify it

i would use mate but it doesnt play nice with my monitors. im 99% sure its just me being lazy but the top of all my windows clips behind the panel so things like the close and minimize buttons are hidden.. it only happens when i use my 4 monitors. any ideas?
