Vegas is shit compared to Premiere Pro.
Did you know that Vegas automatically resamples all the clips you put in the timeline? It makes them all look shitty and horribly interlaced.

It makes it easier on low end computers. I've been having performance issues with Premiere&After Effects for about a month now to the point where I've just switched to Vegas 13. But I do have to agree that Vegas is horrible at getting rendered video quality right. I wait an hour for a video to render and then it looks like ass compared to Premiere.

Yeah it only does that if the project settings FPS doesn't fit the video footage FPS.
You can also disable that for all clips easily.
Sony Vegas is more powerful and easier to use than Premiere, unfortunately the workflow to After Effects is shit.

Vegas 13 has one but it looks even worse than the WMV encoder. Maybe I'm just using the wrong settings but I doubt it.

Sony vegas doesn't use x264 encoder, even output codec is same.

Kdenlive, simple, fast and powerful.
I'm a professional video editor and use Avid all day at work. It sucks donkey balls for useability but its by far the best for use in a massive server infrastructure system (we have about 15 edit suites running at once as well as 5 edit assist machines, 5 graphics/flame machines and a few online & grading machines). I wish I could use Premiere Pro so I could use plugins etc but its also nice having a separation of roles so one person doesn't do everything.

Blender isn't great for video editing, it reminds of trying to edit in After Effects. You can do it but it's absolutely not what it's designed for. Its main problem is what video formats it can import, it tends to not support most camera file formats. It's amazing for 3D work though!

Yup, DaVinci Resolve 12 is incredible. If anyone wants to learn editing at a high level (not just doing youtube videos no one will watch) it's great for learning all the steps from ingestion to delivery. The editing features have really been bulked . It's totally free and the only things you're missing are things professional graders would need (mainly the 3D options).
