Hard to say, any Youtube reviews you could link? A lot of cheap watches, especially Casios look like shit on shop pics, but look not too bad irl. Pic related, I know this one actually looks good irl.

If you're going to get an Edifice, you may as well get one with a bracelet. They have nice bracelets and presumably awful leather straps.

I've tried a 43mm watch and its was big but acceptable. Amazon says that one is 44mm I think it wont look too out of place.

I'll get a nato strap either way. But I dont necessarily want to go edifice. They just seem to have the best prices.

How is this related to watches?
>>
Where can I buy watch cases? As in cases that you can make your own watch with.
>>
>>54293612
Ebay, Aliexpres, sometimes there is some decent deals on Etsy.
>>
>>54291516
The panda is slightly better but those bezels are dogshit tier.
>>
>>54293856
Dumb question but how do I search for them? "Watch cases" only leads to cases to put your watch in.
>>
>>54293878
Depends what you're trying to do.

Easy way is to make something on the basis of a 2824 or a chink clone of one, search something along with movement and case, or just watch model and case.
>>
>>54293906
Would it be crazy to try to make something with the Poljot 3133 movement as a total newbie? Also what's the smallest case a movement can be put in? Does it differ from case to case? Aside from the diameter and thickness are there other restrictions to movement and watch case compatibility?
>>
>>54293954
Again, depends what you're trying to pull off here.

Are you trying to just pick a random case?

Or pick a case that's already made to fit a Poljot 3133 or Valjoux 7733/7734? (likely 7736 and another couple of close variants, but unsure)
>>
>>54291361
Just got this beauty.
I'm loving it
>>
>>54294009
I don't have any experience with this. I just want to make watch for myself but I thought that if I used a premade case it would save a lot of money and effort. The main focus is on the dial anyways.
>>
>>54294117
If you have no idea what you're doing, you will fuck it up.

You can't just slap things together with no experience.
>>
>>54294188

>>
>>54294229
Much better idea than trying to do it yourself. Do your research properly, not only on a mongolian cave cartoon exchange.

>>

There was an anon who put his own watch together after buying a movement, dial, case, hands... I don't think he posts very often though.
And we had a watchmaker but he almost never posts anymore.
Beyond that, I don't think many of us have experience with this. I'd suggest looking somewhere else, I'm sure there are resources/reports from people who did the same thing.

I've been looking at Quartz GS models lately.
What's the best movement to have in one?
>>
>>54295071
In the olden days, if you were decent with soldering and knew what kind of capacitor or resistor you were looking for, you could easily fix a busted quartz movement.

Now it's getting much harder as a lot of the old school electronics shops are being replaced with outlets that peddle consumer gimmickry.

I've heard a few times that Seiko makes them like this on purpose. The idea is that the bezel would be a bit out of alignment when brand new and it would wear in to the correct position after a while.

Kinda like how Amphibias are all too fast out of the factory.

That's really not a big issue with them, lot's of other manufacturers happen to have the same issues. The larger issue with some of the Seiko divers like is the misaligned chapter rings, which are a lot harder to fix.

Amphibias on the other hand, are cheap and robust. Plus adjusting it yourself isn't that hard.

People that are not interested in watches don't even know anything about them so that point is moot. Realistically some cheap fashion watch will probably result in more compliments than some nice mechanical.

Did you guys know that you can get a cheap and reliable watch with an automatic movement and decent finishing for 20$? Stop getting kiked by companies like Seiko, Orient, Boctok and MANY MORE - introducing the new Value 8850 chronograph movement - actually it's better than a chronograph, because the subdials tell you the date instead of worthless information like milliseconds. Srsly boys, there is no need to buy from ANY non Chinese company anymore. I bought this breitling navitimer off of aliexpress for 20$ and I've never seen a Rolex or pajeet phillipe in person but I'm sure the finish on this watch rivals them pretty closely.

>They're supposedly super accurate. Isn't that the whole point of a watch?
To some it is. To many it isn't.
>>
>>54296152
People are interested in mechanical for the "beauty" of it.
There's the engineering side of it, with tiny gears and springs allowing timekeeping with a very high precision. And there's the "art" side of it, because high-end watches are made by hand, with very fine decoration.
And of course there's an elitist side, because high-end stuff has mechanical movements, so some people hate on quartz because cheap watches that everyone wear are quartz.

But yes, if all you want from your watch is that it tells the time without any hassle, then you should just get a quartz.
That watch you posted an image of doesn't really look like a great watch by the way. If you think this is better than an amphibia, you really shouldn't have gotten a vostok...

I'm not sure how many tools you have. But fabricating or adapting a box for your needs might be a way to get something sweet. Could even pick everything with size, shape and exact material.

Maybe a nice dark wood.

If you want an analog Casio chronograph pay a bit more and get an Ediface, much better watches.
Otherwise go with any of the two Casio's in the middle.
MUCH quieter than the Timex watches and will look good on a variety of straps if you don't like the bracelet.
Check out the MTP line watches if you want other dressy style Casios

Also, I'm not sure how you would damage a PCB without entirely destroying the case & face...
