RAM is really fast
HDD is slow compared to RAM

speed = $
speed + size = $$$$$$

fast + large = expensive
fast - small = cheap, but not good as storage
slow + large = not expensive

Hard drive memory? You mean buffer memory?

ram is accessed differently than hard drive memory, so some of the information handling is more concise. ram is also made using many more data bus configurations which decreases retrival times. ram is also almost entirely electrochemical, no peripheral mechanics involved ( like when dealing with a hard drives' needle and platter ). This also decreases retrieval times. ram, iirc, also has many bus paths in and out which make working with memory in it much less likely to create bottlenecks wheres hdd memory has to pass through the file system checker for dealing with the file tables. ram has no such tables.

basically hdd has physical limits of the hardware and the over head of organization tacked on it as a bottlehead. there may be mineral differences but nothing im well versed in.

Ram is your short-term memory. You can recall instantly what was said, what you've seen etc.

Hdd is a motherfucking handwritten library - and your handwriting sucks. It also has pictures, sounds etc - but you need to find proper book to find them anyways.

RAM is the surface of your desk you put files on to work on them
Hard disk is the filing cabinet you store them in.

Weekend came earlier this week.

There's a subtle difference between the two, and many people can get confused. A hard drive is called that because it's "hard" to control. And "ram" is named that way because the memory has to be forced (rammed) into place. Hope that helps.
