No, its a way to try and sell cloud storage to normies.

Not everyone lives in a tree with no internet, physical storage is about to go the way of optical drives and the 3.5 headphone jack. The cloud is now.

>>

Nobody wants that shit, not even normies. Having access to local files at 100MB/s or faster wherever you are will always be better than downloading them at 1-2MB/s and paying for that shit too. Storing 1TB of movies/music/tv shows isn't cheap at all.

This

I get it these were meant to be always online and use cloud storage. But most of these have the storage soldered.
>>
>>54271763
>The cloud is now.
lol nobody wants the cloud you dumbass. Paying to access your own files which you could have on local storage for 100x less the price will always be better. You know SSDs will soon hit $100/TB right?
>>
>>54271836

When? That would be nice. I need a new drive now though.

Go take a shower at Auschwitz, faggot. A lot of those cloud storage services have awful user policies, such as the files stored there are their property and not yours.
>>
>>54271877
You can already buy 1TB SSDs for $200-$300. Next year that price will drop to $100-$200. We will also most likely see $100 1TB SSDs on black friday.
>>
>>54271650
So a nice legwarmer for cheap.

Also the 32GB standard needs to die.
Clean w8.1x32 install is 18GB.
Clean botnet10 install is 22GB.

And if you ever update which you shouldn't and is forced with 10, thats 4-5GB more, that leaves you with 5-6GB free space which you shouldn't touch because it will leave no space left for the OS to work correctly.

Thats nothing, 64GB would be better.
>>
>>54272410
Also the kind of cheap laptops that have 32GB usually also come with 32bit BIOS which make installing linux a pain.
>>
>>54271650
The better the hardware in a Chromebook, the more of a waste it is. ChromeOS only makes sense on dirt cheap netbooks that can barely do more than browse the web, because that's all ChromeOS is capable of. Crouton is a kludge. Flashing your BIOS is a huge risk. Waste of time and money.
>>
>>54271687
>>54272410
It's a chromebook. They always have 16-32gb of ssd space because it's meant to be used as a cloudbook where you keep your files on the cloud.

That's why they all come with 200gb of free google drive space for 2 years. Maybe if you're lucky though HP will decide to make the ssd user replaceable like recent Dell Chromebook 13.

There's also always SD cards.
>>
Crouton is okay. Wouldn't really try to do anything older than 2000s windows games if that's you're interest
>>
>>54272488
Its not a SSD but eMMC.
>>
>>54272410
I've got a botnet10 install on a 32 GB craptop and it's nowhere near 22 GB. It's 10 GB and that's after all sorts of patches and updates. The 32-bit version goes down even further in size.

Chromebooks are one of the best Linux machines though if you plan on using it for that. When you install a Linux distro with crouton you get no driver problems and no decrease in battery life.

Also a lot of "premium" Chromebooks like the dell chromebook 13 seems to be really competitive to windows laptops for the price. Windows laptops in the $400 price range usually have shitty build quilty when the Dell CB13 has a alumium casing, glass touchpad, and 1080p IPS display.

I understand this is to be a chromebook sold for realatively cheap but:

why chose this over any other cheap laptop?

But they do. Most normies download yify rips and 320k mp3 music. Where do you think most of these seeders come from, the NSA? You're confusing ultra tech illiterate people with normies who aren't as tech illiterate as you think.

If you think yify rips and 320kbps are stuff that normies download i'm afraid you're wrong my friend. Most normies listen to song on youtube and when they want to keep it they download it from there, for movies they just type the title into google and click on the first streaming link they could find

>shitty cpu
Core M is fine for chromeOS. lowend CPUs run really good in chromeOS compared to windows in my experience.
>shitty ram
It comes with 4-16GB of ram
>no storage
It's a cloudbook. Use google drive. Comes with SD card reader too.
>no ports
It comes with 2 USB-C ports and I USB-A port. Use can use USB-C for video/charging.
>not particularly light
It's 2.89 pounds. A little less than the macbook air.
>comes with shitty locked up OS
ChromeOS is fine to use for just browsing the internet.
>costs at least as much as a laptop
Because it's a laptop.

Also this chromebook has an aluminum enclosure and 11.5 hours of battery life.
>>
>>54272932
>Core M is fine for chromeOS. lowend CPUs run really good in chromeOS compared to windows in my experience.
So what? I don't have a computer to have a nice experience when I use the OS, I have a computer to do actual work. There is an objective difference between a faster CPU and a slower one, this isn't some aesthetic choice or whatever cloudfags seem to believe.
>It comes with 4-16GB of ram
My $600 laptop that I bought in 2008 has 4GB of ram.
>It's a cloudbook. Use google drive. Comes with SD card reader too.
Stop bullshitting. All computers are "cloudbooks". Being a "cloudbook" isn't some major new feature, it's removing internal storage. You can't tell me that there's some major advantage to not having internal storage except for cost reduction. An mSATA drive weighs 10 grams.
>It comes with 2 USB-C ports and I USB-A port. Use can use USB-C for video/charging.
Way fewer than a laptop
>It's 2.89 pounds. A little less than the macbook air.
The macbook air isn't a good example of a light laptop. Unibody chassis are inherently heavy. I don't know why people seem to believe otherwise. You can't tell me that there aren't 13" laptops that weigh significantly less than 3 pounds.
>ChromeOS is fine to use for just browsing the internet.
So you're saying it's a glorified web brower and that it's not supposed to be used for something else?
>Because it's a laptop.
No, it's not. You even said yourself that it has a shitty cpu and no storage because it's a "cloudbook" (read: a thin client) and that it is "fine to use for just browsing the internet". Then you're telling me that it "is a laptop"? Fuck no, they remove features that you have in a laptop, and replace it with things that you can already get in a laptop. Then it isn't the same type of device, it's an inferior device.
>Also this chromebook has an aluminum enclosure and 11.5 hours of battery life.
What, am I supposed to be impressed?
