I tried Freya. It was really pretty and worked well - most of the time. Keyboard shortcuts didn't always work, and that drove me away because I use them for most things.
That's, uh...that's about all of a review Elementary deserves. It's just another "just werks" distro with a major focus on eye candy. I'd consider holding out until they release the next version based on 16.04, whenever that ends up being.

eLeMeNArY os is all right, it is basically just a DE for Ubuntu though... which isn't necessarily a bad thing. It's nice looking though, but still is GNU/Linux so it comes with the disadvantages and advantages of that platform.

eOS should drop linux for BSD.
I know it's extra (a lot of extra) work to bring it both up to standard for their distro and to provide a modern linux binary compatibility.
