OK /g/, why not.
>>54266973
Don't forget to pay the 'developer' for it. I mean, he is kind of right that real FOSS doesn't allow people to earn a living wage.
>>54266985
You can just put in $0 to download it.
>>54266973
It's based on Ubunu. But it's not that bad.
>>54267404
That I even have to do that suggests that something is very wrong. It's not like he had a single thing to do with all the packages included in his distro or the kernel it uses.
He made a DE that ripped off OSX (and did so poorly), nothing more. Why he felt the need to make a whole distro as opposed to just a DE is beyond me.
>using a shitty knock-off because you can't afford the real thing
el oh el
>downstream Ubuntu
For wat purpose
>>54266973
It was made by a tranny
>>54267633
My feet feel wet, just imaging the amount of semen flooding out of this man's crack regularly.
>>54267633
This triggers me as a human being
Not to be a hippie, but why did that fag need all that shit?
One laptop, desktop, and phone should be it, the rest of that shit is superflouous
>>54267608
Not that guy, but I prefer elementary OS over any other distro I've tried because it actually looks nice. A lot of the applications have been redesigned.
>>54267703
>>54267721
It was probably for some review website or youtuber or some shit, calm the fuck down and stop being immature cunts triggered by an image
I tried Freya. It was really pretty and worked well - most of the time. Keyboard shortcuts didn't always work, and that drove me away because I use them for most things.
That's, uh...that's about all of a review Elementary deserves. It's just another "just werks" distro with a major focus on eye candy. I'd consider holding out until they release the next version based on 16.04, whenever that ends up being.
>>54266973
i have a netbook which i used the longest time with netbook remix on it which isnt supported anymore and if you know anything about netremix longest time is a while
from it i switched to elementary and it work fine with the formfactor and looks clean so yeah use it if you like the DE or dont who cares
>>54266973
Never tried it. How's it work/look in comparison to mint?
>>54267698
really?
eLeMeNArY os is all right, it is basically just a DE for Ubuntu though... which isn't necessarily a bad thing. It's nice looking though, but still is GNU/Linux so it comes with the disadvantages and advantages of that platform.
>>54267633
Disgusting
>>54267721
Could be some family's all devices
'murica fuck yea
>>54267693
this
too gnomish, you are stzuck with apps chosen by devs or your cool elementary theme will be broken, can't save to desktop and other bad jokes of that kind. Basically a meme distro for little girls and fags
>>54268203
Transexuals make GOAT programmers for some reason.
If a woman accomplishes something with computers, especially today, chances are she's transexual.
>>54270039
>GOAT
More like the same as an average male, possibly slightly higher because of the need to prove themselves.
>>54266973
They have a super slow release cycle and not many compelling features. Better off going with another DE and OS which has more support + customization options
>>54266973
Because the main dev just wanted to get noticed by Apple?
>>54266973
Reskinned Ubuntu with delayed updates. Meme distro for fags.
>>54267780
they just use an icon pack and a theme.
Elema os is poointless honestly
>>54266973
>OK /g/, why not.
Idk
I installed it for my mom, kek. Looks pretty I guess and is simple enough even for tyhe biggest retards in the world.
>>54266973
>>54266985
eOS should drop linux for BSD.
I know it's extra (a lot of extra) work to bring it both up to standard for their distro and to provide a modern linux binary compatibility.
But it has the license they need and then they could charge actual money for it and pay for actual developers full time.
>>54267633
>Apple keyboards
Installing OS X on unsupported hardware isn't that hard anymore and will give a much better result.
it's a meem
>>54266973
tried it, got bored switched back to ubuntu
also ricing your desktop is as easy as installing flatabulous and numix icons, simple as that
>>54271548
It also just works.
And if you're going to say that how is it different from any other debian/ubuntu based os other than that it looks better?
if you're smart enough to post on /g/ you're smart enough to use a bigboy distro. Try Fedora or Debian, or at the very least, regular Ubuntu.
>>54273952
>fedora
lol you fat fucking dorito breather
Tbh if good UIs are the reason you want eOS then just stick with Ubuntu mainline, Unity is so far ahead of iShit it's not even funny
>>54273952
>fedora
>bigboy distro
It's ubuntu
>Unity
>good
>no 16.04 still
>not even a fucking alpha
>every other ubuntu flavor is stable on 16.04 already
>"guyz is so hard we cant work this fast here read this is like so hard now donate pls ;("
dropped
>>54275724
>elementary uses unity
The desktop in elementary is actually worse.
>>54267608
Haven't used elementary OS longer than a couple of minutes, but I confirm you have severe autism to be put off from something like that. It's still free, the option is available. How about trying it and not liking it for its lack of updates and buggy nature. What is wrong with /g/aylords these days.
Reminder that these are the failures that claimed that people who downloaded it for free were thieves
They deserve nothing but insults
>>54268248
>but still is GNU/Linux
The fuck is GNU/Linux
>>54267839

>>54276609
this desu, I started using elementary as my linux desktop but after experimenting with debian it really came out what a piece of garbage it is
>>54276787
It's partially BSD, not even slightly linux
>>54266973
it's just like mint, but worse. At least mint gave us cinnamon. EOS won't leave us shit, pantheon is gay and nobody will ever use it willingly. Also it is outdated as fuck because the staff is too small and too busy celebrating their diversity.
0/10 do not use, not even ironically
Elementary isn't ready for prime time.
