I don't discard it could be my GPU, but do you think RAM would have anything to do with it as well? I'm saying this because while my ram has an XMP profile and my CPU supports it, the motherboard only detects it but doesn't apply it/doesn't have an option to enable the XMP profile. I tried setting the timings manually and sure enough Windows reports those correctly but there hasn't been much of a change.

Do you have the knowledge to recommend me a quiet mouse?
how often do the majority of people upgrade GPU's? I built my computer in October 2015, with a gtx 960. I have plenty of money in savings. I only really care about 1080p gaming though, so i thought the 960 was a good buy, and it was, but... it's kind of weak. Witcher 3 is a game I really enjoy, and the 960 only does "ok" on it.
Would it be a bad idea to upgrade after only 1 year when Black Friday rolls around? Is it wasteful when my current setup already runs the most demanding game on the market? I'm not even a graphics whore, I just want that 60 fps lock.

I'm dual booting osx and debian on a macbook pro 3.1 with rEFIt.
I followed a few tutorials, debian & rEFIt documentation + random articles, that stressed syncing the partition tables for x reason.
The rEFIt MBR GPT sync menu says 'will not touch' and there was an 'Unknown' value where the main linux partition should be. There were five partitions in both category. Both OS could boot just fine but It bothered me that I was missing something.
During a previous install I ran gptsync in a terminal basically because, "fuck it, what does this do." It seems to make the GPT list one partition while the MBR still lists five with the same 'Unknown' on the linux partition after the sync. In other words "I don't get it, what did I do."
I don't understand the significance of the 'will not touch'/'Unknown' error and I don't really get what the sync is to begin with. Is the sync really important /g/sqt/? things seem to run fine.

What ubuntu does basically :
whenever you type something on the dash, they send it to their servers (canonical's servers) and they'll querrry amazon so they can show you products from amazon related to your search. Basically they use their servers as a proxy so amazon can't spy on you as they want.

I never used it, and will never need swap in my life probably.
Now some people might need swap, if they want to hibernate, or if they don't have enought RAM on their system.
if you got less than 4GB RAM, your swap should be the double of it

make sure it has power cable connected properly and it is working, try another sata cable, port, if that does not work, have it worked before? perhaps you need to short some jumper, read about it in manual, if not it might be it is just incompatible, but that would be pretty unusual case, I guess; gl hf

im having issues troubleshooting some BSOD related problems.
basically ive been getting a lot of BSODS lately on windows 7. i have not update any drivers appart from my graphicsdriver but i know it isnt the issue. since the card works fine in other pcs with the same driver versions.
my main issue is when the BSOD occurs. the memory dump that occurs. isnt being created on my hard drive so i can not identify the culprit. bsod messages very a lot too and never are the same. i had everything from out of bounds memory to badly executed code.
i ran memtest 86+ on each individual ram stick for 2 hours and nothing came ap so it isnt the ram.
temps of both graphicscard and cpu are always pretty cool. (i5 3570k idle ~35°C load ~60°C, 760gtx 2gb idle ~17°C load ~35-40°C)
i assume it might be an issue with the pagefile. but that is available and managed by the system, i never even touched it. hard drives are all healthy and fragmentation is below 5% for all of them.
it be great if someone could help me out as to why no crash dumps are being created.
i use bluescreenview to check crash dump files btw.

Any number of websites accessed through your phone's browser.
This is a pretty common question, but I've been thinking on it for a while now and wanted some feedback:
I wanted to transfer to my university with the friends I made at my community college and get into a software engineering/related computer focused field, but for a multitude of (mostly financial) reasons graduated a few months ago with a humanities degree. I've got a pretty nice but odd job right now where I do minor work for an insurance company with SQL - inner joins and accessing data is the extent of that, data entry, and in-house around-the-office tech support which is mainly troubleshooting Excel spreadsheet formatting and coding.
I wouldn't mind pursuing IT as a career path at this point, so my question is this: would I benefit more from studying for and getting certs or going back to school for IT? If it matters I've got light beginner's understanding of Java and I did a crash course with Learn Python the Hard Way and CodeAcademy's HTML/CSS classes, all of that self-taught, plus two 100 level CS courses; one at my CC and one at university.

again. if i had crashdumps that could also tell me about malfuncitoning hardware.
but the memory dump option is enabled in my system. it just doesnt create them for some reason.
when the bsod happens it does prompt a progress up to 100% saying that its dumping physical memory. ive also set it up to automatically restart once the dump is finished.
ive tried both the kernel dump and minidump options but both dont seem to creat a dump file.

>russian botnet or /g/ botnet or Microsoft spyware
>>54226513
I thought that the only not supported format was ".svg".
>>54226527
You can open .gifs on Windows but it will only display the first frame. It's actually the only reason I have irfanview installed.

Alright, thanks. How do these temps look? I'm kind of hardware-retarded so I'm not sure if this is normal or of my shit's running too hot.

Good news: There's nothing wrong with your CPU cooler.
Bad news: We're back to square one.
You might actually be right about the hard drive thing. Luckily you can find out if your drive is dying right now.
Open a command prompt window as admin and type in "chkdsk" without quotes. Post a screencap of what comes out.
Trying to start programing and am thinking about Python as a first language. I see that there are still a number of people using the 2.7 version over the newest version 3.
Which version is best for someone just starting out?
Is there anything typical missing on this motherboard?

I feel like there must be for that price, but I dont think I'm missing anything.
I want one that will let me go with SLI/crossfire in the future
>2 x PCI Express 3.0 x16 Slots (PCIE2: x16 mode; PCIE4: x4 mode)
That's fine for that, right?
>>54226821
they're the same language. some slight difference people like to fight over. so go with either one. you'll always find 2.7 and 3.4 installed on every up to date server.
>>54226883
Thank you.
>>54226762
>chkdsk
Oh god that shit takes hours when I run it. Is that really the only way to reliably check?
I mean shit like Defraggler lists the health as good, and none of the other system-checking programs I've checked out give me any warnings.

>no overclocking
>no overpriced audio
>average ethernet and no wifi or bluetooth
>dvi video and no hdmi
>no m.2 slot
>more than 2 case fans
if you need anything of the following you should consider changing it. otherwise i think it's perfect and exactly the thing i would buy.
Hooked up my GPU computer No power (No light no sound completely dead shut)
Removed my GPU Computer has power (Everything works)

A while back I found a wikipedia client website that was very minimal, it was titled wikipedia.moe(something).org or something like that. Does anyone know what I am talking about? It was this really minimal website.

you can always shut rescan on startup off and do the rescan when you need to. How much do you have? I have 130gbs in music and never had a problem with this. I've seen linux programs die a fiery death when trying to load the same folder, which sucks.
Also, are you using lists? I do have a couple of lists and I update those regularly with shit I like from my music folder.

Thanks pal.
Ok i' can just order a r9 390 right now, should i wait?? Polaris is taking forever to launch and what are the expected price range and is it really going to worth the performance boost?
Is there any point to using a browser adblocker add-on after you've blocked ads through /etc/hosts ?
I'm just using /etc/hosts now and it seems to be working great. Also isn't every browser add-on a potential botnet/security risk? Why do people still use adblockers when /etc/hosts exists?
What is the best torrent client to use. I fell for the qbittorrent meme
>>54227350
How did you do that? More importantly, why?
>>54227357
Check out rtorrent it's uses ncurses and is highly configurable. I'm running it on gentoo. I used to use transmission but i don't trust them anymore after their recent osx download was hijacked and replaced with ransomware.

Is deluge good?
I have to make a key and lock system using an octal number as the password and when the correct key and lock octal is entered then an LED at the end of the circuit lights up. I've done this, but now the second part of the assignment is to add a counter to the circuit that will count the number of failed attempts and then completely shut down the circuit if the number of allowed attempts is passed (until the circuit is reset). We're only allowed to use AND, OR and NOT gates and I can't find any examples on the internet. Not asking you to do my assignment for me, but could you please post some links to relevant information. I'm really stuck

How:You just edit the /etc/hosts file and add know ad and spam shit so that when your computer tries to go to that like it instead redirects to localhost. I'm currently using this github.com/StevenBlack/hosts file with a few customizations. Like i have it redirect to 0.0.0.0 instead of 127.0.0.1 because it increases performance etc.
Why: because i hate ads.
im running debian jessie stable i386, ive got the following repos enabled, but i cant find the motion package
ftp.debian.org/debian, distribution: jessie updates, sections: contrib main
security.debian.org/debian, distribution: jessie updates, sections: contrib main
>>54227482
I know that the last bit is to put an AND gate combining the key/lock info with the counter and have the output going to the LED, but yeah, I'm just stuck for the actual counter itself. We're also not allowed to use D flip flops, which is why I'm having so much trouble

Something on my mobo broke or got loose after I was attaching an SD card reader to my PC. My problem is I cant figure out what it is. What it causes is videos and music to freeze after 3-5 seconds. Any idea what it could be?
I already removed the card reader, it didnt help. I also used the internal graphics instead of my gpu and that didnt help either.
Why does Hexchat do this?
>>54227754
coded with the ass
why did dedicated graphics card abandon VGA so fast and laptops stuck with it for external displays for a while? and why was VGA abandoned? it still has great bandwith for what it is and 90% of screens i see support it
building new pc, getting 6700k and wanna OC to about 4.4/4.5Ghz range, case i wanna go with is fractal r5
what kind of cooler should I get?
stuck with the 212+ for my last few builds but interested in the single block water coolers, was looking at the h100i but with people who have it say they have to put it on top of case which raises noise on some

What's the difference between a janitor and a mod?
is using sysprep.exe with OOBE and generalize settings a viable way to migrate to a new chipset and CPU?
>>54227940
janitor has the power to delete and hand out warnings, it takes a mod to ban
