Is it a bad idea to buy a 4k monitor to watch 1080p content?
Images are sometimes not shown due to bandwidth/network limitations. Refreshing the page usually helps.

It's a waste of money, but since 4k is literally just 4 times more pixels, every 1 pixel will turn into 4 and you won't notice a difference.
>>
nah, nnedi3 and upscale that shit. you won't notice a difference.

you're better off getting a 1440p high refresh panel though.
>>
The number is bigger, so it's better

Fuck, just like think about for a bit
>>
>>54208772
I'm not saying it is better just wondering if 1080p monitor would be a noticeable difference.
>>
>>54208508
Yes, it retarded. The other way around is pretty great desu. That is, watching 4k videos on a 1080p screen. Sharp like a photo.

Not enough 4k content.

Go with ultrawide for now. Get 4k on next monitor purchase.
>>
>>54208508
remember to upgrade your OS though
>>
>>54208508
If the whole purpose of the screen is to watch 1080p content it seems like a bad idea, yes.

To what?

Gentoo
>>

You said monitor so I assume you're also going to use the computer for something other than media consumption.

In which case, go for it. It's really nice to have all them extra pixels.

1) the analogy is hyperbolic.
2) if you need a car analogy to make sense of technology, stop posting on /g/.

Uhh no, it doesn't.
>>
>>54221647
Kino means film in Russian. Shorted from cinematography to kino. Slang at first.

If you have a capable GPU for some gaming, yeah, go for it
>>
From 720/1080p is fine. 480p may have some problems but just crank up scaling method of your choice.

>you're better off getting a 1440p high refresh panel though.
No he's not. He'll never get >60hz without multiple GPUs at that resolution. Meanwhile with 4k you can simply run the games at 1080p and use scaling to get sharper EVERYTHING.
