We Earth our plugs so that people won't die if one of the two power wires come loose and touch your PC case you won't get a shock from touching it. The ground wire is connected to the case so when a live wire touches it the current from the live wire flows to ground. This should trigger the wall breaker/fuse to shut off the circuit.
