Start with regular Ubuntu

What's wrong with Linux? Nothing. It's very useful.

I just think OP sounds like he's a basic home user who already has all his needs covered by Windows and is installing linux for purely meme reasons.
He'll probably end up back on windows within a week.

(I'm also suspicious that he might be trolling us)

No it's for shitposting with ricer desktops.

There is no good reason to use Arch over Xubuntu aside from loving the tediousness of setting up a graphical environment, unless you can't live without the AUR or to be on the razor edge of updates.

Any distro with infinality or other similar font patches like Ubuntu is fine. So Arch, Gentoo, Funtoo, or Ubuntu derivatives. Anything else is disgusting.
>>

I use KDE and I know the default config is good.

And to reach to my comfy state I

1. Change look and feel to Breeze dark
2. Resize the bottom panel height
3. Change to application menus settings

The default configs were decent and now it's perfect.

It doesn't take me months like you think it takes

The whole /g/ is not a limited skilled average user such as yourself
>>

I'm actually more worried about CPU usage, and hence use XFCE. I'm using a dinky AMD C-60 so I need to save all the cycles I can, and unfortunately XFCE is pretty tedious to get right.

XFCE can look really nice and is a lot of fun to customize once you get the hang of it. There's not even much to learn, start by messing around with your panels and then install an icon theme.
