Neither will SMT be fully utilized, the problem is the software itself.
CMT has advantages over SMT with multithreaded perf/diesize , but since software isn't all that hot on using more than 4 cores at best, CMT remains relatively underutilized. And if we had mainstream 8 core SMT CPUs they would remain underutilized too.
