I expected those disks to run hotter. How do you cool them in summer?
>>

I don't, they don't really get that hot.

That's nice, sadly I live in a area where there is a lot of dust so open setup isn't viable without PC Dirt bags.

Dude get an IcyDock seriously you should cool those hard drives.

Or equivalent I mean Vibration and Heat are the biggest hard drive killers.
>>
>>54117487
it was £120 and almost the same performance as the 380
>>
>>54117544
No it's just not very fun to build with, or manage
>>
>>54117500
Oh ok cause I was thinking about getting them for my DT990 pros
As of now my audio setup is a little autistic
>>
>>54117609
That's fair.
I like building in it, and think the challenge cable management in it presents is fun.
>>
>>54117583
I really don't see the point, the vibrations are taken care of by the tape and temperatures are fine.
I was looking for an existing solution before I made one from legos. I just needed something for 5+ HDDs with direct SATA and PSU connections, but those things are stupidly expensive and hard to find.
>>
>>54117623
Yeah, they are more than fine for DT990 pros, you'd probably damage the headphones or your ears by putting full power through them with that amp even.
>>
>>54117663
I think it makes my ass sweat and my fingers numb
I have big hands and despite being mid skeletal mode I still can't fit my hands in computers very well
>>
>>54117681
Do you think the sound is warm? I have a small tube amp as of now and I really enjoyed the sound it gave me. The problem is it's cheap and can't drive shit but still sounds good.
>>
>>54117664
IcyDock Crap comes with their own powersupply/eSata and prices average about $50
>>
>>54117761
You can upgrade to the Schiit Vali if you really like the tube sound, I personally abhor it, give me analytical clean Solid state over a tube sound any and everyday of the week.
>>
>>54117786

>>
>>54117780

>>
>>54117846

>>
>>54117887
Hmmm, 90 dollars. Not too bad, I'll think about it. Thanks
>>
>>54117917
Try using filters next time and setting the price to lowest first and buy it now.

It's just a matter of propper search terms and filtering there is always one or 2 assholes underselling stuff if you know how to search it.
>>
>>54117870
Yeah, I personally don't find the warmth to be beneficial, but even if i did, almost double the cost seems a bit silly, especially when it provides LESS power than the Magni.
>>
>>54116179

cable combs are for keeping your cabling straight and orderly.

>>54116869
>>54117566

Now compare those two 24 pin power cables with this one
>>54117515

Do you see the difference? Obviously you can separate cables individually by hand. The point of cable combs is to keep them that way forever.

Want to upgrade, but really nothing to upgrade to. A second 980ti classy wouldn't benefit me as my current one gives 60+ fps in cawadooty and Das3. My i5 is clocked to 4.6ghz and runs nice and cool/quiet so even a new cooler would be a waste. Case is fine. Only thing I can think of is another ssd. M.2. But now I hear they run hot. Single 32" 2560x1440p. Only game that drops it into the 45ish range is Fallout 4 with fully maxed out everything. Most games I turn the AA down to x4 rather than x8.

If you mounted your PSU correctly you would have plenty of slack to run it behind the mobo

PSU needs to intake cold air from outside the case, not exhaust hot air from inside it.
>>
>>54122426
Torrentclient with VPN
>>
>>54122827
Its not sucking up exhaust air though. I have two front fans pushing in cold air to feed the gpu and psu. Not sure how else you would mount it without doing some major modifications to the case.
>>
>>54124088
It is taking air from your case, pushing it over your PSU internals and out the back.

Flip it over so the fan you see on top is on the bottom. Your case will have ventalation/mesh/etc there so your PSU fan will intake air from outside the case

How much do you think water cooling would cost

I'm considering proper watercooling. It would be an extremely tight fit though.

I should probably not be autistic and specify
I want both 980tis water cooled along with my processor. Most likely hard tubing and two radiators. I haven't decided yet on fluid, I might either get white fluid with clear tubes or black tubes and use distilled water filtered through nanofibers.
>>
>>54134669
~$700 total depends on specifics.

I'm planning on jewing out and going EK
I want a full block

I can't justify buying a video card.

Well EK doesn't make a WB for your motherboard mosfets or anything like that. But CPU block, two 980Tis, and RAM would set you back ~$400 just for blocks. Add in some radiators, pumps, fittings, etc. You're looking at easily $600+
>>
>>54135139
Oh I wasn't going to water my ram or mosfets on my motherboard as they never go above 40C
The sensors are broken but I have managed to get accurate readings with my IR reader
>>
>>54135194
in either case you're looking at over $500, under $800, depending on fans, fittings, tubing, pumps etc.
>>
>>54135385
I am usually told that water cooling costs 300 burger bucks. I could have just been misinformed by budget builders. Money isn't an issue really but I would like not spend too much you know
>>
>>54135061
Not even a cheapo 750ti or AMD equivalent, they don't really cost too much.
>>
>>54135881
Well 980Ti blocks are about $100-125. each. CPU block is ~$75-100. Fans depending on what you get can be $5-20 each. Or more if you get RGB LED fans. Radiators are around $60-70 for a single 240mm. Pump is another ~$120. Hard tubing will run you probably ~$20-40 depending on lengths you need.

For CPU and dual GPU i'd recommend going for a dual loop, or at least dual radiators in a single loop.

So yeah, around $600

buy a 2nd hand 7000 GPU if you need a GPU, they're £50

if you don't need a GPU don't get one

I took apart my old tower the other day, got a GeForce 6100PM motherboard, a Radeon 4650 graphics card and an i3 processor. I was thinking about putting it in a smaller case to have as a portable tower for uni but I can't find any small cases that fit the motherboard. Is it worth doing anything with these parts or should i just throw them out?

>6100PM motherboard
(amd)
>i3 processor
(intel)

it can't be both faggot.
>>
>>54136675
desu im not sure what the processor is but I thought it was some sort of i3. Don't want to take the cooler off it again though cos messing around with taking off thermal paste is a pain
>>
>>54136806
You can find out your processor by going into "computer"
"system properties"

Just watch some youtube videos on it

is that a molex under the CPU ?
>>
>>54115349
what ethernet adapter is that? It's so tiny
>>
>>54139069
Looks like it, some boards have them for additional power instead of 4/8 pin connectors.
>>
>>54139408

its for Molex Fans
>>
>>54139413
Are you the owner? I'm calling bullshit, not only have I never seen that feature before it's also the wrong connector (it's for power input, not output).
>>
>>54139501
its not mine but I've used MoBos with Molex Fan ports on them
>>
>>54139522
I've only been able to find one board with such a feature, an Intel socket 775 one from 2004. I'm sure more exist but you won't find any with it these days and that anon certainly isn't using anything that old.

My media server. Currently in the middle of reinstalling Windows 7. Turns out my install initially was corrupted because windows 7 doesn't like using new USB 3.0 drives as a boot source.

Used the MS Windows USB tool and made one of my old USB 2.0 16gb sticks a boot drive and now it's installing. Really weird.

Sorry for spaghetti. Really no way to take a a decent pic and the case is rather small for the amount of hard drives I have in there.

The molex is to provide supplemental power to the pcie slots. That is primarily meant for people running 3-4 gpus. It is not so common no a days, but it still exists. It's to help take some stress of the motherboard having to provide power to 3 or 4 power hungry pcie devices and keep the board from burning out.

The Asus 990fx ROG board had one and I was also curious what it did. Google told me. Not necessary at all for a single, or even dual GPUs.
