1. My local hardware store is doing the table top and leg combination that IKEA does for cheaper with same materials....lurk around.
2. You can easily get a used comp desk full wood for $20 at a used furniture store.
3. Do like one anon did(and I will do) and buy a solid slab plain door and paint/stain it and install some legs on it to make a desk(insert file cabinet for drawers). It looked nice in their pic.

Uh... acoustic foam isn't sound dampening. Like not at all. It removes highs and lows during recording. Just because someone calls it "sound dampening" doesn't mean it is. Sound dampening is done with thick insulation materials during the construction of the wall. Those shitty foam pads do nothing to dampen sound.
