I'll be spending a while in psychiatric hospital, so I'm filling my laptop with TV series and books so I don't die of boredom.
Suggest me some interesting tech related books, I'm kind of interested in something historical on the note of pic related.

Also, I'm interested in documentary films too.

Try smoking some weed... a lot of it until the anxiety goes away. It might get worse first.

medicine (xanax, phenibut etc.) doesn't work as well as it should anymore and anxiety has gotten worse over the past couple of years so my psychiatrist recommended me being under constant doctor supervision for a while to find some decent solution asap.
i've been visiting mental institutions before to find the right medicine, but never actually stayed there.
after i get out of the hospital i plan to start hitting gym, because intensive physical activity is one of the most effective ways to get rid of the anxiety according to every specialist i've spoken to.
i really want to get out of this nightmare. it has fucked my employment opportunities twice already and every morning i feel more and more like shit and can't concentrate on work.
>>54059771
Surely if you're going to loonyville you should take the opportunity to detox from modern brain-frying media and the Internet, no? For sure take some books, but not a laptop!

I've taken more more than a dozen different medications (mood stabilizers, anti-depressants, tranquilizers) over last couple few years and none had have fucked with my memory. One of the things made me temporarily a bit psychotic tho.
>>54064833
This.
Only an excessive dose is really gonna mess with your memory to that extent but that's why we (even professionals) don't self-medicate/diagnose.
Some sedative types may dumb you down a bit but you adjust which is the point

instead of reading a book about the history of tech/hacking, why not spend your time in there -learning- various skillsets used in the technology/hacking field and -become- a part of it's history?
MIT and Stanford actually have public, free access to their corses, I'm currently working through their computer science courses in my freetime (I intend to enroll into computer engineering in september)

I agree with you. But, since I'm an ..aspiring web design/developer pleb (and never been good with math necessary for CS) I've put some Laravel (PHP framework) courses on my laptop that I've already started learning.
I'm proud I've got my head around Python and Django/Django-REST framework in last couple of months, even though I consider myself more of a design person.
I know about MIT CS courses online since I've tried following through their lectures a few years ago.

Not OP, but I have spent time on a secure psychiatric ward (nearly ten years ago now). You only got "heavily dosed" if you were starting to get manic and a threat to yourself or others around you. And I only ever saw one person get the stereotypical "hold him down and jab this drug into his ass cheek" treatment after he became manic due to refusing to take his prescribed daily medication. He then spent the next half an hour lying on the floor where they'd jabbed him in absolute bliss.
So long as you took the medication they dosed out to you at night, or during the day, depending on what your treatment was, it was all very chill. We sat around reading books, or listening to music on our boombox stereos. Some went to work shops. Some were allowed out to walk around the grounds. But you had to have been there a couple weeks and stuck to treatment and shown you could be trusted to get outside.
They let you bring your laptop to the nuthouse? Awesome.
Check out the TV series Halt and Catch Fire

all swedish people are depressed & anxious as hell and spend most of their time smoking weed, popping pills and pondering why they can't move out of their mom's basement

what kind of anxiety do you experience?
>>54067092
fearful thoughts / intense fear out of nothing along with fast, heavy heartbeats, shaking / shivering, tense muscles and heavy, fatigue feeling all over the body.
my official diagnosis roughly translates as "schizotypal deviations"

this so much
Dude start smoking weed, it really fucking helps with anything.
>>54067440
>my official diagnosis roughly translates as "schizotypal deviations"
>>54066306 here
My diagnosis was schizoaffective disorder. Drug use and in particular weed, exacerbated my symptoms. It got to a point I couldn't even take a toke of high grade without it turning my head completely. So ignore every one saying "smoke weed". Unless a qualified professional tells you to. You could smoke and have it exacerbate your own paranoia and anxiety.
I've now been on various drugs over the years, but I've been "stable" since I was released from the psych ward. A routine of drugs, getting a proper nights sleep (forcing myself to turn off the computer, TV or put down a book) and exercise has prevented me from going back onto a ward. Even on my worst days I'm not as psychotic as I was before I was sectioned and started getting treatment.

FTFY
I recently just got Ghost in the Wires. THAT'S a good read if you've got the time OP. I'm currently learning Kali Linux myself. If you can bring a laptop, try learning something about your pic related instead of wasting yourself away watching cartoons with over exaggerated reactions. If you DO end up getting Ghost in the Wires, realistically, you won't even want your laptop. Kevin Mitnik is an amazing guy and the writer isn't bad either.
Definitely check it out. I bought a hard cover for less than $14 I think it was?
