You mean DX12, and emulators are heavily benefiting from it.

I'm a poo in the looian just because I use emulators?

It's superior to the native console experience when you can re-render those super low res games with AA, an Indian can barely afford a subpar smartphone let alone a fucking gaming PC.
>>
>>54057525
This. Windows rebooting itself is a problem, but losing a browsing session is not an issue it will cause.

If you use Firefox, press alt+S to get the history menu, and choose restore previous session from there.

For Chrom(e|ium), you're kinda screwed unless you chose "continue where I left off" for what to open when you start the browser or got a session saver extension. The builtin one will do the job, but is pretty basic and always opens your previous session when you launch the browser.

>>54057518
Okay smartass, what do I configure? I have 2 options: restart automatically, and prompt to schedule. First one reboots it spontaneously. Second one asks but then reboots spontaneously anyway sometimes.

>>54057527
It wakes itself up to fucking reboot. You can fix this part by disabling wake timers in advanced power settings, but then it will reboot itself the next time you walk off to get a drink or take a shit.
>>

exactly why they need more efficient OS's and emulators for old consoles with bootleg copies of games.

Here's the thing you can't even get games to a REMOTELY usable(not even playable) state on DX11 or earlier

DX12 literally made RPCS3 somewhat playable when it was a fucking slide show on an Intel i7 with 6 cores and a 980 TI

Yeah there are a number of ways to disable Windows Update by basically breaking it. But then you're left with either a progressively more out of date system or you have to manually download and run hotfix installers one by one.

And you want your system up to date because
>security patches that actually fix flaws that malware can use to get in despite you blocking ads, javascript, etc. Things like png decoder exploits.
>new versions of Win10 are often worth getting

We don't want to have no updates. We just want to put the computer to sleep with confidence that what was there before will still be there when we return.
>>
Let me know when someone fixes Win10 to make it usable. I want to see:

> no bullshit spyware or telemetry
> a smarter update system that doesn't restart my PC on its own whim or break my graphics drivers

and optionally
> maybe, just MAYBE some way to get glorious Aero Glass instead of that flat design nonsense

That is all.
>>
>>54057732
You go into services.msc and disable updates or set them to manual.

Sure, let me take my legit windows 7 pro key that I've been using for 7 years and throw that in the trash so I can break the law to use a higher tier version of a lesser OS just to get back functionality that previously existed, because Microshit has decided to cripple their own product.

No thanks. They don't care about the user anymore and I have no intention of downgrading to windows 10 unless that changes.

I would have updated to 10 if it was win 10 ltsb but now even Microsoft add bloat. I should be adding stuff when using a new install not removing it like it's a shitty consumer laptop/desktop.

Because I'm a professional and I can't afford to have my OS decide it's a good idea to update when I take a bathroom break and lose 3 hours of work.

And before you say "You should have saved", no, an OS should not be taking action detrimental to the user without any actual input. Your OS is supposed to facilitate your work, not hinder it. I don't mind that shit being on by default so retards stay secure, but as a professional using the """professional""" version of windows, I should absolutely have full control.

That's without even getting into the fact that updates OFTEN break Microsoft's OWN dev tools/software. In windows 7/8.1, it was as simple as uninstalling the breaking updates, or better yet, just explicitly choosing when to install the aggregated pending updates. Now it's a fight every single time.

I have lost HOURS of work on windows 10 and HOURS more trying to "fix" it. Visual studio crashes DAILY on 10 and works fine on 7, for whatever reason. I need a 3rd party start menu just to be able to search for executables, and now an additional tool to manage my drivers so windows doesn't overwrite them with broken ones.

I realize this stuff doesn't matter to many people and that's fine, but NO ONE should be defending this shit unless they're a paid shill (which there are plenty of on here). It's objectively bad.
