No speccy thread on my /g/?
Just upgraded from an A10-7850k. Was tired of hitting 80-90% CPU utilization on 1080p youtube.
>>54042776
>A10-7850k
>80-90% CPU utilization on 1080p youtube
u wot m8
I'm using a Phenom II and get under 10% CPU usage playing 1080p/60fps videos on Youtube. Even Chrome and its shitty forced VP9 only takes it up to ~35%.
>>54042825
Well I also had ~3.5TB of content seeding in utorrent which took up a base ~10-20% of my CPU use.
But yeah, ~10 tabs of chrome open + 1080p60fps youtube would bring that thing to a crawl and would even cause stuttering on the youtube if I were to launch a program or do something else while it was playing.
>>54042850
I dunno, I find that very hard to believe. A stock Phenom II X4 965 is worse than a 7850K in every way and I've noticed literally no difference in desktop use from the 4790K I had before (which I sold in preparation for Broadwell-E, so I'm using this Phenom II as a holdover).
>>54042883
>A stock Phenom II X4 965 is worse than a 7850K
You realize CPU wise the X4 965 is basically on par with the 7850k right?
The 7850k has 2 modules and 4 threads. Yours is a true quad core. They are basically the same performing but the 7850k is on a newer process and has integrated GPU.
>>54042825
The Phenoms have a better IPC than FX
Running a 940 but cant OC it due to a shitty AM2+ board
temps suck in the define R5, any good high airflow cases?
>>54042776
Here you go op
32gb of ram and yet i feel like i don't have enough.

terminate yourself with extreme prejudice
>>54044506
I don't need to because the fact that you're using a shitty, outdated OS with new hardware gave me terminal cancer.
>>54044486
Windows 8/10 is utter garbage.
>>54044471
How does your 970 handle the high refresh monitor?
>>54042776
>>54044407
Yee
>>54044532
The fuck is with those monitors?
>>54044527
They're so much better than Windows 7 and this is coming from a Linux fag.
So many things wrong with Windows 7 including the lack of native multi-monitor support (and I mean good support), USB 3 drivers, a proper search.
The only thing Windows 7 had that was better than Windows 8 or 10 was Aero glass.
>>54044530
extremely well. it's all a matter of knowing which games support high refresh rates
>>54044564
speccy is a bit of shit
other one is running at 75Hz (LCD)
>>54042776
Do I need to upgrade?
>>54042776
Hey, can anyone tell me if this is a good build for
Music production, using Adobe products, and some gaming
http://pcpartpicker.com/p/FMztXL
>>54044584
So far Windows 7's simplicity has been good enough for me. When I see a reason to upgrade, I'll upgrade.
>>54044616
Why is Speccy the standard anyway when it's such garbage?
>>54042776
Why do ULV processors get so hot with Folding@Home?
>>54044631
How the heck did you get a Pentium M that hot?
Mine under full load (colonel compilan for an hour straight) would only get to 70 C
>>54044643
i standardized it
>>54044652
Because they have shit coolers, and they're not meant for heavy workloads that Folding puts on them. They're meant for battery life
>>54044631
>windows 10 with that rig
NIGGER WHAT ARE YOU DOING
>>54044636
should be ok but be aware you'll get made fun of for the 970 since 3.5 and all and the AMD will get you called a poorfag
>>54044663
Prime95 + a shitty 2006 LG laptop with a horrible cooling system.
>>54044737
thanks, eeh as long as it runs great and i can play games and shit I think ill be good
Forgot to mention I will have this thing hooked up to three monitors (which i think is 5760x1080) Do you think this cpu and graphics card will cut it? or should i get a different cpu?
>>54044770
As long as you have enough outputs, a 970 can easily drive that. My 970m drives my 4k laptop screen which is higher pixels overall than 5760x1080
Don't expect to play many games spanning all 3 monitors but you should be more than solid for 1080p on one
>>54044809
Appreciate it, might just have to get a mini display port to HDMI then i will be set, I dont do a lot of heavy gaming, but do you think it could play shit like gta 5 using all three monitors? Might have to search that 3.5 gb thing.
Only worried about the CPU, this current cpu im using is by AMD too and Ive had some dumb driver crashes which I cant seem to fix
>pic related ( current build )
>>54044867
On low-medium settings probably, on my laptop with a weaker 970m I can play GTA V at over 60 fps at 4k if I turn some of the settings down
>>54044992
Awesome, what laptop do you have?
How meme am I?
Also this is in an NCase M1.
GPU is an R9 Nano, not an R9 Fury. Speccy still doesn't report it correctly.

The way it should be
>>54045086
>6GB
How does this even happen?
2x2GB 2x1GB?
>>54045079
Why didn't you do a 6700 and H170 mobo? I never understood trying to overclock in an itx build
Otherwise meme/10 enjoy your hot 950
>>54045100
1x4GB 1x2GB
>>54045110
tfw the m.2 ports on my lappy have a heatsink under them
>>54045110
Two reasons. One, it was on sale as fuuuck. Two, it was a choice at the time for a better controller. All of the early H170 mobos used the shitty ASMedia controller for USB 3.1. In fact, the vast majority of even Z170 mobos today still use that controller.
Also if you noticed, I didn't overclock it, although I could. I have a perfectly capable heatsink (be Quiet! Dark Rock TF, it's huge but the Ncase M1 is designed well enough that it is both smaller than most ITX cases and still fits this monstrosity).
Also the overheating 950 complaint is primarily due to the 512GB one. The 256 GB one, while having slower write speeds (a bit over 900 vs. a bit over 1500), doesn't really suffer from it, nor has any of my benchmarking been able to find an instance of it happening, and if it's not happening under extremely unrealistic benchmarking scenarios, it's certainly not going to happen with me just dicking around in games or trolling /g/ or whatever.
>>54045164
Was it worth it? Thinking about getting one
>>54045196
It really depends on what you need in a computer. I like it but I also only use it in my bed as a shitposting machine. Really don't do too much gaming, an hour of The Division a day or so is all I really do. Only have GTA installed because I mirrored my steam folder over here when I got it
Once you turn off the cool gaming LEDs it's just like any other laptop and the keyboard feels pretty good compared to past Dell laptops I owned.
>>54045110
>>54045183
I should note that most people won't really notice the difference in USB controllers, but that particular ASMedia one had problems with some of my equipment from work, and while I could use my work laptop, obviously my desktop is way better.
>won't recognize DDR4 correctly
>the OC on the CPU doesn't show up
>displays are wrong too
>recognize my cheap external drive as a fucking SSD
Why are we using this piece of shit of software again?
i refuse to upgrade. ever.
Originally built in 2012. A few minor upgrades since then but still does everything I need it to do (VMware, vidya, shitposting)
r8 or h8
My portable air con can't come soon enough.
CPU forced to 3.1 GHz all cores.
Upgrade suggestions? I got $600 to burn.
Upgraded from a Phenom x4 955. That face when my single threaded performance more than doubled. FEEEELS GOOOOD

Any recommended upgrades?
Pc is 4 years old
>>54046759
more ram, better graphics card
Still using this CPU since 2011. Surprisingly it is still decent im still holding off until ZEN if not then I will jump ship to intel. The SSD is for Linux BTW.
>>54045706
>no dedicated GPU
>>54046759
OC cpu if you can, get a new GPU (r9 390 if you want the ideal price/performance, GTX 970 if you're allergic to AMD).
Otherwise, ram and stuff like that looks good.
Next upgrade has an L3 cache. But I have to hand it to the Athlon II for being the little CPU that (usually) could.
With luck my time on this shitbox will be ending this weekend.
>>54044703
Is that an overclocked Windows 10? Keep those temps down bro, don't want Windows to get too hot.
>>54042850
Why do you seed so much?
>>54044641
Not him. But you only have a few months before they end the free upgrade thing.
>>54044486
Still better than 10 shit.
>>54044652
Because they are shit, they are meant for light desktop work.

Faster dram, or a newer GPU.
>>54049950
>Faster dram
He said he wants more FPS, not 3% improvements in synthetic benchmarks. He should only bother upgrading the GPU. Faster RAM would give almost 0 benefit except in a few games like GTA 5 which are RAM bound.
>>54049918
>64-bit
Found your problem
>>54049122
The 750ti served me exceptionally well for a long time, I didn't have the heart to retire it when I upgraded so I gave it an easy retirement as a rarely used dedicated physx card.
>>54049150
You connect your pooter to the botnet and stimulate protein folding. Helps scientist study complex reactions without having to spent hundreds of millions on a similar supercomputer.
>>54049769
What a complete POS. I wouldn't have it.
>>54049974
You are uninformed and ignorant.
>>54050064
Do you actually think faster RAM helps in gaming mate?
Like really? DDR4 CAN provide some benefits because of the bandwidth it gives. BUT almost no game is going to be seeing FPS gains from this because they are still being held back by that GTX 670. The only logical upgrade is for him to get a new GPU. Getting fast RAM would only give him ~5fps gains, and even that it would depend on the game.
There should be plenty of articles discussing RAM speed for gaming having little effect. Go read
It's already overkill for my usual tasks of browsing 4chan, listening music, using excel and watching movies/tv shows.
Completely fell for it

Moar fans. Mine keeps cool but resonates like a mofo because of the pos hdd's. Cpu at 4.5Ghz
