What's that website where you can customize the color scheme of your keyboard including the case and keycaps? Not WASD's. It had like a white background and some color presets on it.
>>
>>54033026
pretty sure he meant backlighting compatible keycaps.

It's the size of a standard spacebar, compatible with just about any aftermarket keycap set around that is not a set specifically for non-standard keyboards.

>>
>>54033030
Since you want backlighting you're probably fine with some compromises when it comes to quality and physical customization. A standard gamer type keyboard available at most electronics retailers should be fine for you.
Just pick something with cherry mx browns (slight bump you can feel) or reds (no bump) and maybe stick some o-rings on there if the noise still ends up being too much for you.

Yeah, custom I dont care for. I have nerve damage so I dont always know where my hand is that's why the backlit is essential.

Thanks, my only gripe with it are the stock keycaps, which are quite ok, but I'd rather have something a bit more low-profile. Thinking of getting some DSA dyesubs from signature plastics in white and blue.

>>54033817
I actually replaced the black switch on the spacebar with a red since it was a bit too heavy for my taste. I just about never use the right shift, so I'll probably use it as an FN key, in which case I'd rather have it be light. I use the capslock (going to be the control key) and the left shift a lot for playing insurgency, so I thought I'd rather have something that I won't risk pressing accidentally, while still not putting too much strain on my fingers since left shift gets pressed down a lot.
I use tab to check the scoreboard, so I thought I'd rather have something that I can just press momentarily and then release again without having to worry about accidentally hitting it.

I don't know if my worries of accidentally hitting keys is justified, but these clears are so fucking light that it seems possible.

Mine fortunately didn't have LEDs, but if you want to change the LED color you can either use those LED color changing thingies (small bits of plastic you clip over the LED) or you have to replace the LEDs, in which case you'll have to unsolder and resolder a whole bunch of LEDs.

Unsoldering LEDs is a horrible pain. I have a desoldering pump and even with that thing desoldering an LED on my Shine 4 was an ordeal. I wouldn't recommend it unless you really want a different color LED.

>>

The NovaTouch is a Topre switch, but it also has stems that are Cherry MX Keycap Compatible. That will make the NovaTouch much easier to replace the keycaps when you get bored and decide you want to mod your keyboard.

You clearly can afford it.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QiIs_d_G9c4
>>
>>54034155

I understand your reasoning, but I'm far too busy/lazy to keycap mod by keyboard. I'm relieved that the real force topre switch can't be modified as it rules out such a course of action entirely.

I just want 1 keyboard for the next few years atleast, perhaps starting out with the best will eliminate the need to try out the rest?

I have your keyboard, except with 55g switches. I switched from 45g browns, which now feel like reds in comparison to this.

The keyboard is great for gaming, but I think anything that isn't full-size and has N-key rollover is great for gaming.

The dark keys are will not be visible in your mom's basement with just your monitor shining on it. The dark keys are visible in a poorly lit room otherwise.

>anything you'd recommend getting
If it becomes available on massdrop again, a PBT spacebar. Sadly Topre PBT spacebars seem to only be available on massdrop from Matt3o or from people reselling them on eBay. Everyone here with their HHKBs should get them too if they haven't already. ABS is utter shit, and I've managed to actually have wear the spacebar a bit. The stock PBT keycaps on the other hand, feel fantastic.

Are reds good for typing?

I hear alot of people make more typos with it compared to browns.
>>
>>54037866
They're good for typing if you like them for that purpose.

They take less (peak) force to get to the actuation point, so if you have fat fingers it could prove troublesome.

should i buy gateron blues or cherry mx blues?
>>
>>54038408
I've got a bad experience with the cherry blue. They did feel inconsistent, the feedback was different and it depended on where exactly I applied the force on a key.

I did use black, blue, red and the blues are by far the worst; actually I rather use membranes than blues.

I liked black the most but I switched as they were a little too loud, not that mechanism was louder but they need more force to actuate; more force, more noise.

I use reds atm and compared to black it's much easier to misstype on reds but if I focus on typing (rather than just slapping me fingers on keyboard) I type faster and produce less noise in the process

as a side note - good membrane keyboard ain't too bad. Eg. older apple keyboards

Reds are really nice, because you can drop your balls on them, and they move a little bit to catch them. No other key switches accommodate your sack. Almost as if they were saying "hey bro, I got your balls, leave it to me." And I'm like, "wow thanks keyboard".
This special BOND is why I will always choose reds, for typing and gaymin.

Looks like WASD Keyboards has started reselling some Vortex PBT keycaps that have been available through other channels before.
There are some quite thick blank or side/top laser printed sets in white/dark gray.
There are also backlight compatible double-shot sets (PBT + POM legends!) available in black or white. Just beware as the black set is known for not letting through a ton of light in some places.

First keyboard. What do I use to clean? The dust kind of fuses to the keycaps and I'm not sure what wipes will do to the caps.
