Private Trackers offer several things:
1. Speed. Even that 1 Seed usually has a seedbox (unless he is a curry)
2. Retention. Capitalist ratio system means that your torrents will be retained for 10+ years (look at Pedros, WCD)
3. Content. Public Trackers have a lot of content. But it helps to join specialized communities if you like a particular type of content - SACDs or Ebooks. Some communities try to have "exclusives" that are available only to that tracker. Sometimes they get leaked sometimes they dont
Id say Security for #4, but I doubt trackers are secure as they think they are

i'm not just gonna abandon elite class on what and never download music again, so my question is, if i were to start fresh, how would you recommend building a file storage architecture in a way that's nothing like how i dicked around in the past. i would assume some sort of RAID setup, but i have both a laptop and a desktop and ideally i'd want to bring my music collection with me in some form.

Clarification: hard drive is not being used at all, is external hard drive, it's sitting on desk until I can contact a proper service to salvage data. It's in a state of dysfunction that personal software can't tackle on its own.
