Being cheap is a great way to be poor. you should buy a pigtail and make a cantenna for that adapter - either coffee or pringles can on a cheap little dollar store tripod. the adapter you are using should use a pigtail that would take the place of your antenna, and it would be able to improve signal, allow you to directionally focus, and only cost you about $5-10 bucks when all is said and done. i've done it, and it even looks kinda cool when set up! pic related, one i made in my shed for shits and giggles, but this was an attempt at seeing how much i could improve the range, as a coffee can cantenna would probably be all you would need to make.
