what is the best place to get classic Seiko diver? amdpoorfag here

Do you just want to get the SKX (see >>53984692) or a vintage Seiko diver?

What's the best place to buy a Seagull 1963 at a decent price in the UK?
>>53984692
My compliment generator.
>>53984796
Depends where you are from then.
Ideally though, it should go for anywhere from 155~175$ including shipping.
>>53984874
I'm really tempted to get a 710 cased Amphibia in addition to my 090.
Should i?
hey fags what time is it
>>53984995
Time you got a watch.
>>53984692
It's nice and sunny today though.
>>53984983
I love mine. It's 70's as fuck (even though the Ministry was designed much later I believe).
>>53985088
I've been thinking about it on and off for about two months. So fuck it for 63$ shipped no harm done.
Enjoy a pic of the 090 on a black rat.
Any recommendations for an understated everyday-wear for a giant? I'm 6'6" and a chunkster so stuff either looks like I'm wearing a kid's toy or seems to be in the CHECK OUT MY CHUNKY AS FUCK XTREME WATCH style.
Can stretch to about $500 for the right watch but willing to consider anything.
>>53985166
Seiko Sumo?
>>53985166
I'm currently wearing an Orient CEZAD001B (Catchy name, huh?) and I like it so far.
I paid about $200 for it a year or two ago and it fits my large wrists. They're kind of hard to find now, but try to find another watch for under $200 that has a power reserve, quick release strap, and made in a decent country.
post lume
>>53985918
You first
>>53985166
Measure your wrist, just because you're tall doesn't mean you have mammoth wrists.
Unless it's 8+" circumference, stay away from watches bigger than 44mm in diameter.
Also worth measuring how 'tall' your wrist is, where you'll wear the watch, makes estimating fitting easier.
>>53985040
Why do the people that make 'replica' watches not only do the non-date Sub? It would eliminate the non-magnifying cyclops being a dead giveaway.
>>53985151
I really need to get one of these.
>>53986180
Because most rep owners are tasteless plebs who want the disgusting cyclops version because it's distinctively Rolex.
>>53985918
Dat Seiko lume.
>>53986318
Yes, I imagine this is why. If I was in the fake watch trade though I would sell the non-date versions as 'Bond' watches with a Bond zulu strap.
>>53986386
Most people that tasteful would just mod a homage.
Reminder to everyone:
>homage: doing a De Niro impression/cosplay
>rep: claiming you're De Niro (i.e. being a fucking fake asshole)
>remake: being a better De Niro than the original (e.g. new Seiko Turtle, Alec Baldwin)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pIiKdoLYC_A
>>53986318
There's reps of 5517, 5510, 5514 / 1680 / 1665 with overpriced dials, 6541 albino 6542 and so on as well you know. I wish Parnis would make them rather than autistic chinks so that they wouldn't be $300 for a chink 2824.
Getting a Seiko 5 as babby's first mechanical.
Will change the strap but
>NATO looks too sporty
>Leather looks too dressy
What do?
>>53986889
leather nato?
Otherwise get a Cordura strap.
>>53986889
I think strap code do bracelets for some Seiko 5 models.
>>53986916
I guess I'll buy a regular nato, a leather one and maybe some other strap because I'm indecisive and I'd like to change the style of the watch.
>>53987128
As you should.
>>53987128
Get a sporty (rivet?) leather strap from watchbandcenter and a chink nato.
Leather natos are either shit or expensive and always thick as hell.
>>53986314
Dat tritium
>>53987257
Well, besides the few italians sellers which sell okay quality stuff they are hard to come by cheaply.
There's one exception, that sells very good quality and relatively thin non-chink leather natos. But he only has them in 22mm..

As of right now I'm leaning towards the newer smartband from Sony, SWR30 or something from Garmin.
Is there anything else I shoul consider?

Or maybe a different colored NATO.
>>53993995
I have black, olive green, brown leather, light blue orange stripe, pink green stripe, cheesey camo, and some other shit that would not match it. I could go black but it's kind of boring, the brown leather looks better on my other dirskie aswell.

IIRC the Barret has a fairly sophisticated recoil compensation system. Works well enough that the user experiences less recoil than firing a 30-06. Something like that.
Still, I believe it is unusual to fire one from a standing position.

>>53996071
The SSC019 has an okay bracelet, but the end links are hollow.
So I saved $55 and bought the SSC031, then replaced the (rock-hard) polyurethane band with a Super Engineer II.
>>53996087
How are the straight ends on the curved lugs? Ive been considering getting the super oyster for my mako but I think it might look tacky with the empty space between the lugs and the endlinks
>>53996087
I would take hollow end links over no end links, personally. I don't really like that big gap.

>>53996556
That's different because a switch like that can also be hooked to a specific power socket or something like a garbage disposal. If the label said "switch" it would be more similar. Because the label would be telling you the exact same thing that you can already see anyway.

>I'm like 99% sure it's an Orient mako or ray or whatever the one with the numbers on it is called.
Wat
>>53996723
Is this a press photo or one of you faggots? Looks like me a spotlight above, to the right, and slightly behind the dial, and long exposure on the dial? How do you not get any reflection on the crystal?
>>53996898
Given the small lume arc going from 9 -> 3 id say like a 30 second exposure
>>53996290
When it comes to that, the ability to list offers by date added is so helpful. As those shitty ones tend to be around for ages.
What I hate is the dogyish pictures of descriptions which hide missing or replaced parts like crowns or bands.
>>53996898
No, I took it. Very dim window light from the top-right corner of the photo (the watch was face-up on a horizontal surface), I rarely actually use any flashes because I'm lazy and watches are too small anyway, usually just window light and sheets of printer paper for diffusers. 30 second exposure, which is pretty obvious from the lume trail of the seconds hand. The background was mostly black to begin with but I burned it a bit in photoshop to make sure it was all totally black. Not much processing aside from that and removing some dust specks.
Like you said, the light is slightly behind the watch, so how would it reflect off the crystal? For a shot like this with the camera facing the watch head-on then the light would have to be right behind the camera also hitting the watch nearly head-on in order to create a glare.

I'm going to have to buy a proper watch later this year with my bonus. Looking for a nice budget watch that can go with a suit for under 1000 USD.
Suggestions? I love the look of the Tissot Visodate.
>>53999240
They do.
But the SARB065 is kind of meh.
They went domed mineral instead of domed acrylic of just sapphire, and it's the kind of watch you would wear only formally.
While the SARB033 is both fine for formal wear and casual wear. Or the little bit of lume bothers you then get SRP703.
>>53999269
The visodate is a pretty good watch.
We were just talking about the SARB033 / 035, which are a popular "dressy" choice around here.

also got a $2 chink black nato just for fun but it actually looks alright
When the fuck is Orient going to restock the bambino and Polaris?!
Did you know that Seiko has it's own country in EU?
But you can't get cheap Seiko watches shipped there.
>>54003861
You should try reading that again.
>>53984692
This one, nothing fancy but gets the job done.
>>54003861
It says the following range of collections and lists collections, it does not say the following countries.
>>53998887
>armani
literally why?
>>53997833
>so much damage control
jews will be jews
>>54003548
When it started I was 19 so not really into cartoons m8.
I've got 6" bitch wrists. Whats the largest size that I can wear without looking retarded?
I actually would prefer something smaller, but all of the designs I like are in the 40-42mm range
>>54004102
Probably 36mm.
>>54004118
Fug, are there any options similar to the orient dress watches in that range? I was hoping I could get by with some 38mm Seiko 5s
>>54003861
What a retard kek
>>54004185
You might get away with 38mm. I suggest you find a local jewellers and try on a watch of similar size.
It's mainly the lug to lug size you should look at by the way.
>>54004185
It's possible, but it might feel like a pendulum at some points.
You gotta go for 34 or 36mm, and ideally the lug to lug distance should be 38~40mm.
>>54004185
You could try a Bagel Nautilus or Datejust homage.
>>54004405
Thanks for the suggestion, but I don't really like the Dials / Bezels on either of those.
I'm thinking I might have to go with a scraped up vintage watch to get something that will fit.
>>54004499
You should.
Lots of nice vintage pieces.
>>54004548
Is there any good resource for researching vintage watches? I just feel lost trying to find one.
>>54004569
love the design, but too expensive for now. I want to start cheap and slowly move up.
>>54004548
Where did you get the Lor Matic? Ebay?
How much did you pay for it?
>>53999269
In that price range I would suggest Oris, Tissot, Glycine, or maaaaaybe a Hamilton.
>>54004691
>those brands
DOGSHIT
>>54004711
Oris is a good brand faggot, specially, for that kind of money.
>>54004744
lmaoing at your life
>>54004630
Lot's of companies.
Vintage Swiss watches are plenty and easy to find but you might not be able to find much info about some of them, vintage Jap watches are piss easy to find and also easy to find info about (Citizen,Seiko,Orient and you got almost everything covered).
You could also go to the slav end, good Pobeda examples cost like 40$ and they are 33~34mm.
>>54004634
150$ shipped via a seller i know on WUS.
They pop up on eBay for those prices usually, or you could trying searching on yahoo japan.
>>54004754
lmaoing at your brain
>>54004766
You could have looked on Yahoo Auctions Japan.
Pretty deals there for <$50
>>54004840
Didn't know better at the time, plus it's a seller i trust and his watchmaker checked the watch before shipping it over.
>>54004711
Here's your (You).
While they are not my favorite brands in the entire watch world, each of those companies offers at least a few attractive, well-made watches with Swiss mechanical movements for under $1000. Which is what the other anon was asking about.
Oris in particular does nice work at the price point. Not a big fan of Hamilton. Glycine is hit & miss. Tissot is what it is.
>Oris
Nice meme, Archie.
>>54004973
Not trying to meme.
Something I should know?
>>54005046
Yes. Oris are good watches and great band for the money. If you buy one you like you won't regret it.
Just make sure to try it in person, as some of their cases are quite big.
Superior watch checking in.
>>54005318
mfw that giant red button
>backlight
You know, the Arnold Schwarzenegger watches aren't all that bad. I mean... they're bad. But they could be SO much worse...
They're nice enough that they could be passably collectible down the years, assuming the fucker doesn't stamp out too many of them.
>>54005754
They radiate just a bit of nerd-chic, even if it is wholly manufactured nerd-chic.
>>54005781
No.
>>54004102
38mm is fine, only vintage watch fags will whine about it.
>>54005781
>>54005833
IWC in 2020
>>54005833
>>54005786
I mean, I wouldn't wear one...
But I'd re-sell a minty one to a credulous collector in a decade or two.
Wrist grenade
>>54005851
>IWC in 2020
Is it a meme to talk trash about IWC now, or something?
>>54005994
Thought of this, and they just seem to keep growing.
Thanks Richemont
>>54005754
There's only one Arnie watch I would own.
>>54006059
THAT'S FUCKING HORRIBLE, GODDAMN
>>54006215
It's still less obnoxious than a day-date window.
Like I don't fucking know what day it is?
Seiko working the early-onset Alzheimer's market.
>>54006265
Yeah having the time twice is much better than having different information
>>54003754
The dressy style is already ruined by it being a semi-skeleton, so the nato strap doesn't make it any worse. It really looks too big for you, tho.
I have a Seiko SARB, and the date keeps changing at noon, wat do?
>>54006966
because it's 12 hours too fast/slow
>>54006995
So I fast forward 12 hours manually?
>>54007006
yes
>>54006966
You set it off by 12 hours you bonehead
>>54007035
>set it off
This is a non-explosive watch.
>>54006966
Is this bait? No one is this dumb.
>>54007058
I just thought there was a trick involving at what time you switch the date.
>>54007081
Yeah, don't change the date between 9pm and 3am indicated on the watch
>>54007137
>>54007137
>>54007137
>>54007137
>>54007101
See!
>>54006966
Are you actually this stupid?
>>54003861
Im kinda worried that you thought Prospex, Astron, Velatura, Premier, Sportura and Ananta were legitimate countries
