Nice potential.
Champion cooler.
Above average cable management, but it could be tighter.
Dust that bitch.
Crooked pci slot cover has me triggered.

Moved from an FT02 to an S340. Temps on the 390 dropped from 95c and throttling under load to a comfortable 80. Video card did not like being vertical.

What's the quality like on that case? From what I hear Thermaltake have really stepped up their game recently.

I think handling and getting it outside kind of ruined it. I might shoot again today, I made some changes to the cable management anyways. PCIe slot was a massive oversignt unfortunately.

On the PSU, was thinking of getting a RM series. CS is doing its job but I'd prefer it to be a little silent.

Digging the board, super tight cable management, where's the psu?

So far the D15 has been serving me quite well. On load, my 6600k hits 55 degrees on load, while staying relatively silent.

Crazy nice build, kind of regret my PSU purchase now.
>>
>>53982511
8/10 - even the RAM and video card match in color and in that angular style.
Points off for the fans. Not much coherence there. Also, get some braided cables or extensions for the video card, 24-pin, and 8-pin.

The Thermaltake case is great quality for the price, but pretty meh, objectively. The panels are very flimsy and it's creaky. It feels cheap.
However, it's a lot of fun to build in and has held up well. Overall, I'm happy with it.
>>
>>53982568
What's your 6600k clocked at? At 4.7GHz and 1.385v mine reaches a max of 65c under typical load, 75c with OCCT.
>>
>>53982558
The cabling looks great from the back!
ANd thank you. I have a Seasonic SS-660XP2 and can't recommend it enough. Carried it over from my old build. This case is a cube, so both the PSU and hard drive cage is behind the motherboard tray.

>>Video card did not like being vertical.
>How so? Was this actually an issue, or just the air flow in the chassis?

It was absolutely not airflow. Cooling in the FT02 was much better than the S340. My 390 had three powerful 180mm by 32mm fans a few millimeters away from it going at full bore, whereas in the S340 there are only two fairly slow 140mm fans for intake.
I think the 390's cooler was somehow slipping off the chip or not making full contact, causing really fucking high idle and load temps. I don't have any other explanation and I haven't read of any other people with this problem, so I'm going with it.
Here's a before/after benchmark comparison. Same everything except the case, and yet an 11% performance increase in the S340. The 390 must've been throttling hardcore.

PSU has been swapped out for a G2 model since this picture was taken with a bit cleaner cable management despite the shitty case. G1 model sits in the closet now as a 'just in case' backup.

I'm surprised you're able to tolerate that fan over the chipset. I replaced that immediately with a low RPM one. That thing is one noisy motherfucker and has annoying LEDs. You're also really missing out on triple channel of X58. You're kinda stuck with low memory bandwidth unless you get a third stick.
>>
>>53994327
I haven't encountered anything that really bothers me too much when it comes to fan speeds.
The Chipset fan is only audible to me when it's dead silent, but it's mostly because I'm profoundly deaf.
The LED is the only thing that bothers the ever living fucking hell out of me and might be replacing it with a Noctua fan. It'll look ugly, but that nasty ass LED will be gone.
I'm also looking to replace the processor with one of the Xeon 6-cores since you can grab one for under $100 and it'll run cooler than the i7 920.

Yes.

https://www.reddit.com/r/GrandTheftAutoV_PC/comments/345t4m/benchmark_results_memoryram_is_extremely/

Also, what clock speed is your CPU running at? Don't forget this also results in a memory OC which can also help. In the above, ignoring single channel (because that's not you) he goes from 66 fps to 69 fps when he changes from 1333 dual channel to 1600 dual channel. I'm not sure how well that correlates into your case, but memory bandwidth definitely is a factor.

>>
>>53995248
Then you fucked up
1) You can OC a pentium on many h81 boards
2) The G3258 is well suited for old engine games and console emulation, but lacks the multithreading for modern AAA titles and engines
3) An X4 860k would do better in modern games while still capable in old engine games
4) GTX 770 makes for a REALLY unbalanced build. Assuming that was a $200 GPU, $100 mobo, and $60 CPU, you'd have been better off with a $160 CPU (i5-4460), $40 mobo (h81), and a $160 GPU (R9 280). That system would still hold up today and be playing modern AAA titles. Your system is going to require a $160+ CPU investment to do the exact same task.

I have the exact same pc you are describing only with an i5 4570 and i think it is very balanced, and clearly the performance you get with a gtx 770 instead of a r9 280 is not very much
>>

Actually with modern drivers the 280 outperforms the 770, especially in modern games that make use of the extra 1GB of VRAM. Tahiti is really holding up well.

CPU is running at stock speeds, it gets uncomfortably warm in the summer despite the Hyper 212 Plus and Arctic Silver Thermal Paste (idles at 60C mid-summer and can get up to 75C-80C under load).

With my current RAM, I did try to fix the RAM speeds by enabling XMP @ 1600, but my PC failed to boot and all the fans (CPU, GPU, Case) ran maxed out for a solid 10 seconds before shutting off. Had to hit the reset button on the mobo and I think that's what lead to the death of my previous PSU.

After that, I swore to never even attempt overclocking, but if I get one of the cooler-running Xeons, I might try to OC it and hopefully not nuke this corner of the house in the process.

Would buying such set be a viable choice to run some recent games?
http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2ypwMp

CPU: AMD FX-6350 3.9GHz 6-Core Processor
CPU Cooler: Enermax Liqmax II 240 96.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler
Motherboard: Asus M5A97 R2.0 ATX AM3+ Motherboard
Memory: Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory
Storage: Crucial BX200 240GB 2.5" Solid State Drive
Video Card: MSI GeForce GTX 970 4GB Twin Frozr V Video Card
Power Supply: Corsair Builder 750W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply

Given my limited financial capabilities it looks ok.
Anything to improve without going ham on my wallet?
>>
>>53999848
Yes it will, but I would recommend you go with a skylake i3 set up. You'll have a better upgrade path for the future as well as get more recent mobo technologies. You don't need a liquid cooler until you're OCing, which can come later. On that money saved, get a z170 mobo so you can upgrade in the future to an over clockable CPU. Though if you're not a power user you could just go H110/B150 and upgrade to a non k i5 later.
If you want to spend extra money at this point, you could go for a better GPU.

Please please do NOT get that. The FX-6350 is a completely crap CPU for gaming. It's only 3 weak modules. I know it says 6 cores, but those "cores" share resources in pairs. The only thing there's actually 6 of is integer units, and games most of the time rely on floating point calculations so it's basically just a 3 core with hyper threading. It's also got incredibly weak cores. You can get a strictly better system if you get this:

PCPartPicker part list: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/vHrj8d

CPU: Intel Core i5-6500 3.2GHz Quad-Core Processor ($194.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Motherboard: MSI Z170-A PRO ATX LGA1151 Motherboard ($79.99 @ Amazon)
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws 4 Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR4-2800 Memory ($34.99 @ Newegg)
Storage: Samsung 850 EVO-Series 250GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($87.77 @ OutletPC)
Storage: Hitachi Deskstar 7K2000 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($54.80 @ Amazon)
Video Card: PowerColor Radeon R9 390 8GB PCS+ Video Card ($308.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Case: Fractal Design Define S ATX Mid Tower Case ($64.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Power Supply: SeaSonic S12II 520W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply ($55.98 @ Newegg)
Total: $882.50

It's better and cheaper than your build. I included a 2TB mass storage drive which may put it a little over, but 240GB just isn't that much storage. You can do without to stay under your builds price, or you could even drop to a $50 h110 motherboard, but this is only $10 more and doesn't skimp on any component. Plus the R9 390 is better than the GTX 970 in everything except tesselation, and the difference is only going to get worse for the 970 as DX12 games roll in. Honestly though the GTX 970 isn't that big of a mistake. You could swap cards out and it wouldn't be that bad. It's the FX-6350 that's the huge mistake here. Just PLEASE don't go that route. And no, I'm not some intel fanboy. After all, I'm recommending an AMD GPU.
>>
>>54002212
Make sure the pump is plugged directly into the PSU and not a fan header. The pump needs to run at 100% all the time, even when idle. This is also why liquid cooling is not a quieter setup than air cooling, especially at idle.
>>
>>54002265
I am still planning the layout and the organization of everything but lately with renders my CPU has gone up to 75C at 1.35V 4.7GHz.
It was crashing alot too which I somehow fixed with a chipset/bios update (Most likely cause I haven't updated since october)
>>
>>53983262
Which case is that?
>>
>>54002408
So are you suggesting that I get a sata to fan header adapter and use that instead? Because the pump and fans are spliced together in the same cable I'm pretty sure.

THANK YOU anon
Really appreciated.
I was out of tech market for a long time and I assumed my build will be lacking but I simply don't have time to read through a shitton of hardware reviews to cherry-pick my stuff anymore.

Once again, thank you.

The 520 Seasonic is already pushing it. If you must cheapen out even further, the EVGA 600B is okay. I wouldn't even go down to the 500B. The only reason the 520 S12II is okay is because it's such a great PSU for the price and can take the near 80%+ load. Do NOT get the CX-500. The EVGA 500B is better, but even that isn't something I'd use for an R9 390.
>>
>>54002896
A Core i7-4960X @ 4.2GHz and R9-390 at full draw in Furmark stress test pulls 380w from the wall. a 500w PSU should be fine.
>>
>>54002874
It was more also an point of gpu sag being alleviated by having a vertical mount, which would inevitably cause an issue with a custom loop. A horizontal case could solve it, but at the same time most of those are fuckhuge.

Yeah, that's not true at all. It's default fan curve is a piece of shit. Without a custom fan profile, the fan curve never goes over 20%. Ignorant people will assume this means the cooler sucks because it will get too hot in a stock configuration, but fix that fan curve and the cooler is actually great. I have my XFX R9 290 OC'd to 1100 and it never gets above 83°C and the fans still don't get loud even at 65%.
>>
>>54005430
Well first of all that's bullshit, the default fan profile is far above 20%. I own two 290x with them. It's a piece of shit compared to my 290 Tri-X which has a lower profile and runs fine.

I already had a custom profile and that does not fix the shit VRM cooling. Still hits 90c playing GTA V unless you make it sound like a vacuum cleaner too.

how bad is mine /g/ ?
>>
>>53982990
I just got this 980Ti as well.
I think it's fucking loud, yours as well?
>>
>>54022362
Asus Strix 980Ti btw.
>>
>>54022362
Strix cards are all loud and suck shit
That's why nobody buys them (Besides red black meme tier fags)
Anyone who says they aren't loud are just used to it
>>
>>54022868
Yeh, fuck me.
I had an Inno3D card but it burned down and thought i'd buy a decent brand.
The fans are fine <46% fan speed but higher god damn it gets loud.
Any recommendation for a decent 980Ti? I should be a able to send this one back (14 days return Europe).
>>
>>54022992
everyone recommends the g1 gaming because of it's clock speed but if I were you I would get an EVGA 980ti. You can easily clock it beyond the g1 gaming and they have the best customer support and warranty policy out of everyone. I've never had an EVGA card malfunction but I've called the customer support before just to test if what they say is true and it is.
>>
>>54023042
The ACX2.0?
>>
>>54023147
Yes, you have alot of options to choose from
classified-Apparently good at overclocking yet usually isn't worth the extra 50 bucks
FTW-good factory overclock but usually can't get very far past it
SSC-super super clocked (I have no experience with these)
SC-Decent factory overclock, great overclockers for some reason, tend to get good silicon for some reason
>>
>>54022336
Fucking awful

shit cables, 120mm rad on 240mm spot, GAYMING board, windforce GPU, dust, batman sticker
>>
>>54022868
lol @ you dude lmao

asus cards are simply the best quality you can get. my strix 390x barely even turns its fans on. i've been using asus ati cards for 15 years and haven't had a single major issue(my 5850's blower fan needed to be replaced, but that was common for all brands back then).

anyway, the only other brand i'd consider for GPUs is sapphire. they're still years behind Asus but are doing well for themselves.

experiences differ for everyone but i've been building PCs for 15 years and i've always used Asus mobos/gpus and haven't had any problems. Asus is who i go to if i want quality parts.

Nice.

what brand do you consider to be the best then
>>
>>54024133
Nvidia: EVGA
AMD: Sapphire

Powercolour is alright, but it's hit and miss and the power bill is insane.
>>
>>54024133
best MoBos are Gigabyte
>>
>>54024174
Good joke. I rate it 4 out of 10.

I've had multiple of both.

Absolutely.

>>

my bad for assuming a corsair radiator would fit into a corsair case. it wouldn't fit on the top either.
>>
>>54024273
Is it the spec series?
>>
>>54024304
it's the spec-02
>>
>>54024310
Yeah I have the same case, a hyper evo 212 barely fits in it
>>
>>54024273
yes thats definitely how it works

I'm going to get a Hyper 212 for my coolermaster elite 110, they're the same brand so they'll work together!
>>
>>54024273
moron
>>
>>54023782
I know the cooling system needs to be upgraded but I was on a tight budget. the batman sticker hides a hole in the red band and I couldn't do much about the "gaming" part.

Well, I've got the custom loop up and running. CPU in AIDA64 never went over 40C, and the GPU during an hour or so on the Division hasn't exceeded 35C.

This happens a lot with Inno3d, I had 3 (three) 980s last year. My friends Inno 780 also died. The coolers and OC are pretty good but useless if the cards die that fast.

>>54023042
I'm unsure but it is possible that the G1 / Windforce cards have better VRMs. I noticed that on my 780Ti, its a completely different layout.
>>54023176
EVGA is the best brand for Nvidia, just because of the service, but the coolers are shit. My next card will be possibly a 1080Ti Classified.

More expensive but VRMs matter a lot.

Blacklight?

Mine got really blue, especially at night, but it won't be perfect until 7820K 8-core / RGB mainboard release.

I'm not even that anon but I still realize you are retarded
>>
>>54029658
it shows the fan speed on the left and its only a third of the way up
im not even restricting the fan speed its on auto
i have never seen it go above 30% and even with my open ear headphones i cant hear it
it only becomes audible past 50-60
microphones wouldnt get the point accross well enough so you will just have to trust me senpai
