if Stallman is so much pro freedom why doesn't he crack denuvo and other drm? I mean he wrote the best compiler and userland in the world, it shouldn't be hard for him r-right g-guys?
>>
>>53929309
Logically, it wouldn't really make sense for him to do. Cracking the DRM to a software doesn't make it fully liberated, it just becomes easier to access. It would essentially be him encouraging use of proprietary software.
>>
>>53929309
Why would he do that? So he can allow you to play proprietary games that he doesn't approve of in the first place?
>>
>>53929309
How do you know he doesnt?
>>
Being pro freedom doesn't give you super powers
>>
>>53929337
This. It's contrary to his position: he absolutely doesn't want to encourage anyone to use nonfree software by meddling with pirating it; he wants to show everyone that free is better and so obviously superior they'd be idiots to do it any other way.

The existence of DRM/copy protection is a scourge that, in his mind, is not best worked around, but instead entirely eliminated: and he only way to do that for good is to make free copying of free software the norm, and proprietary software and copy protection an aberration.

I've got to hand it to him, it's a strong, consistent position with self-integrity. History may show he was right in the end. It's not an easy position, and it allows for no compromise.

It doesn't get you your proprietary games. That's not his problem.

How you make that philosophy work with art like games, music, movies or whatever, or science, well, that's a bit harder given their existing infrastructure. It's still a nice idea. He's focused mostly on software.

how are you unable to come up with the answer to such a shitty question yourself? you must be pretty stupid, seriously

Because he's an autistic pedo whose only goal at the moment is making the creation and distribution of child porn legal.

Do PC games count as proprietary software? I suppose they're closed source and cost money but you don't have to have any sort of special or unique shit to run them.

I'm pretty sure RMS isn't against licensed software, people have to make a living. Theres a difference between supporting the open source movement and supporting piracy, piracy puts people out of jobs open source doesn't.

>The nominee is quoted as saying that if the choice of a sexual partner were protected by the Constitution, "prostitution, adultery, necrophilia, bestiality, possession of child pornography, and even incest and pedophilia" also would be. He is probably mistaken, legally--but that is unfortunate. All of these acts should be legal as long as no one is coerced. They are illegal only because of prejudice and narrowmindedness.

>Some rules might be called for when these acts directly affect other people's interests. For incest, contraception could be mandatory to avoid risk of inbreeding. For prostitution, a license should be required to ensure prostitutes get regular medical check-ups, and they should have training and support in insisting on use of condoms. This will be an advance in public health, compared with the situation today.

>For necrophilia, it might be necessary to ask the next of kin for permission if the decedent's will did not authorize it. Necrophilia would be my second choice for what should be done with my corpse, the first being scientific or medical use. Once my dead body is no longer of any use to me, it may as well be of some use to someone. Besides, I often enjoy rhinophytonecrophilia (nasal sex with dead plants).

He doesn't want to break the law. Just like Socrates desu.

Is cracking software against the law?

Except that with incest, the chance of DNA going bad is only a miniscule increase over a normal, non-related couple. Incest only becomes bad with several consecutive generations of inbreeding. Not saying I'd do my sister, but there are a few cases out there where a brother and sister have fallen in love and had a perfectly healthy child.

Necrophilia on the other hand... for disease reasons alone that should be 100% illegal. No one in their right mind would support that.

Hebophilia is a grey area. The age limit is too high in most cases, and if someone consents, there should be no reason to make it illegal, provided the consentee is able to adequately explain that they have indeed consented.

Why the fuck is this conversation happening on /g/

Yeah it would be impossible to create some type of stable business model around free software with regular payment.
