I like it for the most part. Solid cooling and cable management, filters do a pretty good job, and it's sturdy and reasonably light. My only complaint about it is that the door occasionally buzzes when my HDD is active, which can be pretty damn annoying, but I think moving the drive to a different bay should fix it, I've just been too lazy to pull it all apart.

They run a 20 year old version of Unix so things are a little crufty compared to Linux, the SGI documentation is pretty solid and you can hit up a retro computing forum if you need a hand with something.

The Indy has an optional magneto-optical floppy drive which won't be of much use to you, but there are specific models of SCSI CD drive that will play nicely with it. as far as disk format goes, nothing special is required.
