Don't forget, OP, when you click to check for updates, it will say 'checking for updates' for like an hour or more but in reality it's downloading them. So it's not locked up or anything like one would think.

Yeah you have to say 'no', and from there on out it should be in your optional updates.

Not to say that I haven't seen the more aggressive updates. It's like playing Russian roulette.

OP here, what are the windows updates I should avoid?

Since OP made this shitty thread already, I might as well ask.

What is a good image viewer for windows?

>>53904127
You can fix that by installing a patch.

I have an X220, so pretty much the same thing on the inside.

The driver situation is bad. Windows Update always wants to install a specific version of the Intel HD 3000 graphics drivers. It will fail, and it will just try redownloading it again the next time you start your PC. The Windows 8.1 chipset drivers from Lenovo will not install, so you'll be stuck using the default Microsoft AHCI driver from 2006 (which will hurt SSD performance). The battery threshold manager barely works.

Seriously, what's your fucking problem with updates? I literally just disabled them after fresh install and after I got SP1 and my system is still running perfectly fast (admit fresh install was recently). If everyone would be doing that on Win7 there would be much fewer shitposts about hiding/avoiding specific Win10-related updates. Just disable them all together already! There won't be any super bug-fixes or magical security-updates that will make you immune to super haxors. Disable them! Something you should have done years ago. Seriously, where do you go on the internet that your computer gets fucked up? Only toddlers need antivirus/anti-malware/updates. If you can't use a computer without fucking it up completely in the course of 1 year then I strongly advice to consider suicide.
