if you want performance, premium feel, OSX, and prefer the 15 inch form factor, sure.
Most people only want performance and enough durability to not die in a laptop bag on the way to work.
MB Pro is a premium product even in the business space, most won't care about the looks.

I've even put a list of some of the pros for you as you clearly never used osx for development.

you can still use linux (no arch / gentoo / other retarded distros) for development but it will take way more to do your job you might get stuck by just plugging a usb stick that's not compatilbe somehow. When linux will have drag n drop install/uninstall - proper multi screen support - hidpi support - no sound issues - great battery / power handling out of the box then I might think about it... they were near something cool with eOS but development is super slow
