Ada was the first to document and write code for Babbages difference engine and she ran the business better than Babbage who couldn't secure funding and was generally known as a flake. She made a valuable contribution to computer science. She's pretty cool. Don't forget she's from a Chad free era and didn't have a tramp stamp of affirmative action to help her. She made a contribution in a male dominated field without trying to change it, she wasn't a suffragette. She was a based Victorian lady.

Wasn't it the analytics engine that she "wrote" code for? My understanding was that she popularized the idea of giving instructions for the analytics machine (which was never actually built) to solve problems. After her, a lot of the mathematicians of the era began thinking about ways to "program" the machine as a hobby and that's how we had such a large CS foundation a century before the first computers.
Celebrating women in everything
Because, if you're a woman that can breathe, you should be proud of yourself somehow. It's an achievement. You are a woman and you're in the same plane of existence as everyone else. Therefore you should be praised for it.

I think she wrote for both. I know she was involved with Babbage from the early days before the analytics engine was proposed so I imagine she would have been writing about the difference engine before the analytics engine. I do know she was involved in marketing the analytics engine.

nah, i'm so autistic i don't care about sex and women bother me because different social rules apply to them, especially with men lusting after their vaginas.
i can see why outright sexism is usually bad, but i'm more comfortable when they aren't present. for what it's worth most women seem to resent me anyway. (even though i never make my views clear to them.)
