I know guts are a disaster zone, 0 redeeming qualities.

There is zero space for cable management and the PSU has mile long cables which doesn't help.

Im using this til Polaris+Zen so I may clean it up some but really there's no side window on this fractal budget special of a case, so I just don't care for now, they're my guts and I love them the way they are. (Appropriate emoji)

Guys, sorry if this is the wrong thread, but I need some advice. My rig is about 4 years old, running an i7 2600k (overclocked), 8gb DDR3 1600Mhz ram, and an AMD Radeon 7870.

i sorta have experience with the air 240. i had a air 540 previously. i loved the case, but the the thing that turned me off from the 240 is its lack of being able to house a nh-15s. let alone a 212 evo. your limited to 90mm heatsinks or AIO's.

the 804 is small but so versatile. it can fit a lot for its size. you can nearly fit whatever you want. you can fit 8 3.5in drives and 4 ssd's or 12 ssd's total. enough room for the longest of video cards. able to use AIO's, small custom loops, and tall heatsinks like the nh-d15s like what i have mounted. i love the case.

why would you upgrade now? You already had a GTX 970, upgrading to a GTX 980Ti just means you're going to have to upgrade again in a few months when Pascal drops, or you're going to be stuck on 28nm for a few years.

Retard move mate, should have just waited at this point.
>>
>>53898675
I don't care for pascal. I wouldn't upgrade to it for a year minimum, probably even longer. My 970 wasn't enough power for me personally but I didn't want to go SLI.
>>
>>53898675
>waitfag spotted
Flagship cards aren't dropping in a few months, only a few of the new ones that aren't close to being faster than a 980ti
The "flagship" cards have been shown to really be not much better, it' essentially skylake tier gains
And despite all of AMD's talk about their ayyysink shaders and spending copious amounts of time on flassy prezi docs, they aren't releasing anything that great either.
>>
>>53898639
Kek. Wanted to treat myself, been saving for months with my shitty minimum wage job.
>>
>>53898750
Again, retard. Put up with the 970 for ~4-6 months and you'd have literally gotten 40-50% more performance for the same price you just paid for your GTX 980ti

Enjoy the 980 you fucking retarded cunt.

>>53898759
Okay, flagships aren't dropping for a few months, so upgrading from almost a flagship (GTX 970) to the current flagship (GTX 980ti) is somehow a smart move?

Sorry, not possible, he fucked up and wasted money, period.
>>
>>53898785
My friend is paying me damn near full price for my 970 so I didn't lose out on anything. I technically only paid the cost of a new 970 for my 980ti and i got a performance boost that will last me for awhile.

Also, I have a 5820k and a GTX 960 (For HEVC encoding). Waiting for Pascal before investing in any more GPU power, because i'm not a literal retard.

You know you don't NEED the highest graphics levels turned up in order to play the game right?

I play literally every AAA game out right now on a GTX 960 at 2560x1440p. I just don't have UBER sampling or ULTRA quality settings. Big fucking deal, I get 60fps, and it runs smooth.

I also have money in the bank and can drop for whatever graphics card I want, whenever I want, that graphics card is just going to be pascal, not a 980Ti a year after it released. The 980ti was released on May 31st 2015 (almost a year ago) for $649.99. What is the price today of a GTX 980ti? Since you just bought one i'm sure you know.
>>
>>53898976
He literally just said he bought the 980Ti for 1080p gaming you retard, I know you can do more with a 980Ti than you can with a 970, but when it comes to gaming at 1080p, he made a retarded fucking upgrade. Stop defending someone elses shitty purchase.
>>
>>53898980
Mine was on a deal, $600 w/ Division. $50 off, plus another $70 saved from having to buy The Dishitsion. Good enough for me. Im not a GPU nut. I really dont care about waiting for pascal.
>>

>>

>doesn't understand how air pressure works.

Alright senpai, good luck with that.
>>
>>53903059
If you mean the blockage on the fans obviously that would be removed/reduced, and the front grill on the case is completely open for all 3 fans.

It would also potentially let me run completely passively if I get a giant air cooler like the HR-22 with the Zen APU I'm hoping is decent so I don't have to go with a broadwell chip.
>>
>>53903112
this is a lot of potentially and hoping.

Why not do some actual science and test the fucker out. If you get good enough cooling without fucking up your brand new case...don't fuck it up. If you aren't getting as much cooling as you want, THEN fuck it up and try to mod it to get better cooling.

Why fuck it up from the start?
>>
>>53903167
That's why I said I'd probably mod it later on, more for fun and experimenting than anything else, as I really don't care about aesthetics.

only problem is the sightly raised area they put in for the fans, might make the hole drilling a bit of an issue
>>

Your only sensical choices for your board are a 4690k, 4790k. You could also get earlier haslels if you can find them used, though I wouldn't recommend it as everything before Devils canyon has bad TIM. Would only recommend the i5 because you don't need hyper threading for vidyer.

As for a monitor? Just about any 1440p monitor up to 27" within $250-500 should be fine. Just read reviews. If you want 120/144hz then go for it, you'll be spending a fair amount more though.

There isnt any bottleneck caused by the hashwell pentium (even if it has botched l2 cakes) with any game worth playing (that actually needs modern hardware that is), because they are either a) cpu heavy, but only use one or two cores (SHOC, Arma 2) or b) are very gpu heavy (Crysis, plus SHOC and Arma 2 again at 2560x1600 and up resolutions).

>>
>>53903430
Is there any way to give it passive cooling? If not, and heat is an issue that is degrading performance than yes. Figure out how man fans you need and shit too though. Don't go overboard and have your computer double as an ambient noise machine.
>>
>>53903958
Generally you want 2 fans, one for intake and one for exhaust. Of course your CPU needs to have a fan on it as well. Anything else is up to the builder and their particular needs.

I went under the assumption he already has fans. He wouldn't ask the question unless he had some pre-built computer. Problem is though, there probably is no room for extra fans. After market heat sink might help but issue probably is caused by lack of air flow.
He could always stack a normal 1200 rpm fan over a high static pressure fan if he is desperate.
