Are there any good 3rd party texting apps?
Not a separate texting app like textnow, one that can replace the stock app.

Specifically libresignal. It's a FOSS fork on f-droid completely stripped of all google dependencies. It also uses end to end encryption with other users of the app, although it functions just fine for normal sms.
Contacts+ has texting and calling/phone and caller ID and blocks spam callers.
