Let's discuss the best, most secure, and most advanced operating system of 2016. Personally I've been loving Windows 10 so far. My computer runs it a lot faster than Windows 7 and it looks much more modern and nicer. The appstore has a lot of nice stuff to buy too. What does everyone else like about Windows 10? Haters and paranoid idiots not welcome.
>>
>>53855869
Yeah man I agree with you. Windows 10 is the best and it looks amazing. It's eye-candy compared to OSX or Windows 8.1. Everything about it just feels so much better.
>>
>>53855869
I've been using Windows since Windows 3.1 and I have to say Windows 10 has been Microsoft's best work so far. They experimented a bit and made some mistakes with Windows 8 and 8.1, but Windows 10 is where this all pays off.I've enjoyed my time with Windows 10 so far ever since the beta, and I have never been more pleased.
>>
It is, in my opinion, the best version of Windows and the most secure. It keeps itself up-to-date which goes a long way towards keeping you safe. I also think the whole telemetry/spyware paranoia is super over-exaggerated. Windows 10 has no interest in spying on you, they just need a small amount of information to improve. I turned off the telemetry anyways and haven't had any issues. It's basically a more polished, secure, modern, and lightweight version of Windows 7.
>>
I upgraded to 10 for free to get the directx12 support. Overall I think it's pretty nice. I don't understand why everyone always whines about windows 10.

Windows 10 is the version that brought me back to using Windows again after being a seasoned linux user for years. After I bought a key and used it for a while, I never went back to my Linux installation. They are adding full support for Ubuntu now, so all the better. Microsoft seems to have finally come to their senses and create decent software.

Personally, I'm loving Windows 10 so far. Crazy-fast bootup times, better interface, multiple desktops, new Edge browser and appstore, supported for life. What's there not to love?
>>
>>53855869
The things I like most about Microsoft Windows 10 are the New Microsoft Edge Browser, DirectX12 support, new appstore, and all the system optimizations Microsoft has done. Windows 10 runs so smoothly compared to Windows 7 or 8.

Windows 10 is great, why all the hate? Those aren't ads, they are SUGGESTIONS good apps in the appstore, and they can trivially be disabled. You shouldn't judge a book by its cover.

Yo why come edge and file explorer take a shit randomly? Also the tab system on edge is broken as fuck, I can't easily scroll between all 62 tabs of tentacle porn I have running. Gaming is next level on it though, it seriously runs smooth as shit. Also don't think I don't see that you make the cursor go automatically to the search bar even in inprivate to fuck me if someone types shit in my browser. Stop fucking me Microshit and let me jerk without leaving a trace. I don't care if a streetshitter has my info on a hard drive in India tho.

FWIW I have a Windows 10 Mobile phone and Edge is laughably bad. Like, randomly the back button just completely stops working. Or it goes back, but skips one or two steps so I have to enter my Google search terms again. I have to just close the tab and create a new one about 20% of the time because it just gets all fucky and locks up or something. Ugh, and don't get me started on the full reload it has to do every time you hit the back button. Momentarily lost your signal? You're fucked. Gonna have to wait for the fake "loading" progress bar, then wait five more seconds while it freezes, then you get a "oops couldn't connect LOL!" page instead of just a cached version of whatever you *just* had opened.

Fuck Edge. Fuck it so hard.

Ok youre right that was a bit harsh of me.

Im giving it another chance,

It was a bit sketchy having to "uninstall" those sketchy tiles from my computer.

Everything else seems to be nice although Im pretty sure as I write this comment its getting logged into Microsoft's "Telemetry" Database

Is there some guide for removing the botnet as much as possible?
>>

Windows has been POSIX compliant ever since the NT kernel debuted.

>>53856312
>implying this is an acceptable starting condition for a product you paid for

Don't be fooled by the "free" upgrade. They literally stole your license. That's the trade-off. You no longer have any right to a Windows 10 key. You don't even get to know it. It's written to UEFI BIOS and if your mobo ever dies you're fucked. Buy a new Win 10 license or reinstall from 7/8/8.1 and start over. Been there, done that, not going back.

Windows 8 Search was so much better. Search for any program/document/etc and it'd find it instantly. In order to find any programs with Windows 10 search it needs to have the program's shortcut in the start menu folder. The fuck is this?

I love it. Slick UI, modern, love the resizable start menu and flat modern look, minimalism is love. It's something linux lacks. Keep these threads going I was actually thinking about making my own windows 10 general thread. Don't stop my nigga. Try to mash it up a bit too, like "what's everyone doing", "what do you think of the new update", "show us your start menu".

Neither is Linux. At least Win2k was.

You know why it isn't anymore? Because nobody cares.

Nobody cares about POSIX compliancy. Nobody.

Win32 is a great API, and .NET has moved beyond it. POSIX is 1990s-think baloney.

you don't belong on this board.

Linux, BSD, OS X, are all MOSTLY compliant which means they are compliant but they aren't CERTIFIED

Windows up to 2k had a POSIX subsystem but that didn't even make it "mostly compliant"

Win32 is garbage

you don't know shit about these subjects so just shut the fuck up you look like an idiot
>>
>>53856580
>Windows up to 2k had a POSIX subsystem but that didn't even make it "mostly compliant"

It was entirely compliant except for threads and sockets.

>Win32 is garbage

No, it isn't. It's a great API.

You don't belong on this board since you're obviously a tech-hipster faggot with little-to-no practical experience.

>you don't know shit about these subjects so just shut the fuck up you look like an idiot

Remind me again, how much does Microsoft make selling Windows every year?

NOBODY cares about POSIX compliance. It's not 1995 anymore. You want portability? We've had Java for that for TWENTY FUCKING YEARS. Hell, even C#/.NET is now somewhat cross-platform.

Even if you reject those two, just use modern C++ with STL threads and mutexes. Fucking DONE. Or you can be an ill-informed, autistic crybaby and whine that your POSIX-compliant C-coded manga downloader won't compile and run on Windows.
>>
>>53856609
no, for it to be entirely compliant it would need to be certified, which it wasn't. it even says all that in the link posted earlier. seriously dude, you are pathetic.
>>
>>53856630
>no, for it to be entirely compliant it would need to be certified, which it wasn't.

So, JUST LIKE FUCKING LINUX THEN, eh?

Idiot.

Keep obsessing over irrelevant, wildly out of date standards though.
>>
>>53856658

Microsoft has contracts with reputation management firms like Waggener Edstrom and Burson Marsteller who try to shift public opinion about Microsoft products.
They place posts in forums pretending, for instance, to be Linux or OSX users who have been dazzled by the new Windows.
Or they argue subtly for the pluses in the new OS.
This has been going on since before Win7.
Sites like Ars Technica, Slashdot and Digg were deluged by sockpuppet accounts posting at the behest of Redmond. Now they are here.
They say that the biggest insult is to care so little that you don't try to make your lies believable.
