So I'm sick of wincuck and I've been having problems with Microsoft's shit tier products. I want to install a new OS, and was wondering if you guys have any suggestions.
Here's some info:
Laptop:

> 12 gb ram
> 1 tb
> some average graphics card
Purposes:
> programmer (mostly C and python)

> I just want it to look decent and function well without having to update/fix it constantly

Side notes:

This is the easiest approach
I'm fantasizing over creating my own OS with my friends, starting with the bootloader, kernel, then simple shell shizzle.
