tell your boss your workflow would improve by 35% and make him pay it
Is there a FLOSS alternative to Mathematica?

Axiom is the closest thing there is, but it doesn't have a working user interface, because the developers are garbage and want to keep it inaccessible to all but elite programmers such as themselves.

From their website

The first goal has been there for the last decade. It was forked into FriCAS and OpenAxiom in the meantime, both of which have failed to build even the simplest readline interface (one that doesn't crash all the time).

Yes.
Julia, R, Axiom.
>>53846576
That must mean that it's worse than vim.
>>53846597
Julia and R serve a completely different purpose.

Octave

Mathics

Are you fucking kidding me?
>>53846337
Get a RaspPi. They have a free license bundled.

>>53846390
I you need it for work you need a license anyway. If you don't need it for work go for python plus libraries (Sage is a bundle of libraries). Matplotlib is still ugly, in-browser visualization libs are starting to get decent.
>>53846337
Why 9? 10.4 is easily available
>>53846337
matlab is better

you use octave instead and take your shit questions to

Have you tried Maple?
whats wrong with maxima? Run it in Emacs and have it output in latex.
