What old tech have you run for practically forever before finally letting it go? Did the upgrade live up to its predecessor?

I used my 3GS for 5 years until last week when I got an SE. Buttons and headphone jack were pretty worn out but it still did the job. Not a bad run
>>
>>53844450
Talk about the SE more how is it post pics why you upgrade now

Oh yeah old tech I still use a ipod classic and will never ever stop using it.

like the other guy said, can you please talk about the transition and how much you're liking/hating it?

particularly the transition from older iOS to iOS 7-9.

It's a fine phone. Wasn't too hard to adjust from iOS 6 since stuff is generally in the same place. I kinda wish the music app wasn't so integrated with my apple ID It's fast and the pictures it takes are a hell of a lot better. Battery lasts a fuckton longer, obviously. I got exactly what I wanted out of the SE: an iphone not much bigger than what I had, with the latest guts.

"Manlet" jokes aside, I think there's a place in the world for small phones. I work outdoors and the less bulk in my pockets the better. For me, it's a communication tool more than a media consumption toy.

Headphone and wake button getting flaky in the last few months is what prompted the upgrade (home button dead for at least a year, assistive touch was a funtional workaround).

I was using a ThinkPad T23 from 2002 as my main computer until about a year ago. I was also using Ubuntu 10.04 until then because I'd had graphics problems with newer distros. The fact that 10.04 was finally losing all support was one of the main reasons I had to finally ditch the T23.

>use outdated tech
>browse a "tech" board
Why?

>>53845078
You're on the board that buys 10 year old thinkpads and crt monitors.

Greatest dumbphone i've ever had

It got nothing to do with consumerism.

You got device A and it runs okay, there is device B that does every single thing better and faster than device A. Buying device B is the logical choice unless you're homeless.

>>53845135
There is no need to pursue the newest meme like VR but if there is a clearly better alternative to the shit you got currently ... you should just get it.

>>53845103
>>53845136
Thinkpads are ... special. I kinda want one but have no idea what to do with it.

>>53845124
Fair point.
>>
>>53845144
anon i will need some sauce on that
>>
>>53845161
A does what you want it to, no need to get B

I use things until they break.

For real

I...got it off /a/.

sorry anon ;_;
>>

But B does it all too, much better.

I'm posting from an AMD FX-8350 system. Two SSDs, 32 gigs of RAM, and a GTX-970 memecard.

I'm still very happy with the performance.

It was released in 2012. It's ancient in technology terms. Honestly, I'm surprised how good it is. Running Visual Studio, multiple virtual machines, the latest games... Amazing value.

I attended an old coworker's wedding back in 2009 where the groom posted a tweet during the ceremony.

He's the sort of try-hard uber-dork who would buy shit like that.
