What setting do I need to see the "https://" and sadly still "http://" again in Firefox? I use more protocols now, so I wish to see that again.
>>53829770
i use firefox and i see https:// when the website supports it.
>>53829770
The addon "HTTPS everywhere". Pretty sure there's an option in about:config but I'm too lazy to google it.
>>53829770
Go to about:config
Search for "browser.urlbar.trimURLs"
Set it to false
But like >>53829802 said, I think it already shows https. So maybe I don't understand your issue.
>>53829849
Thank you so much, that was it.
I now also see the https:// by default, kek.

I'm not sure which one seems better and I can't find much in terms of benchmarks. Which one do you reckon would have better community support, as in custom roms etc?

What's up with my iPhone 6s camera? I can see lines running through the preview and the photo when using the back camera, especially when it's dark. When I use flash or it's light, then it's perfect. There is no problem with the front camera.
I dropped it in water few months ago, recently got it fixed and it's fine except that.

So I have this Lenovo Ideapad U510 and decided it'd be perfect for Ubuntu. The problem is that it utilizes UEFI which I am not too familiar with and snooping in search engines yields nothing about my particular problem.
So it had win8.1, I made a bootable Ubuntu live USB and did a clean install (wiping my windows cause I had nothing I wanted to hold on to and dont game a lot). Ubuntu installed no problem, my issue is different. Win8 took like 15 secs max to boot since it utilizes the SSD for boot files. Ubuntu takes 35 secs to boot, does it also utilize the SSD the same way? Should I have done something different since its UEFI?
>>53830183
you can get like 30% more performance by spending less than 10% more up front.
that means you dont have to upgrade again as soon. you're wasting money in the long run by getting a locked cpu.
and have you compared benchmarks on the CPUs to make sure you actually get more performance per dollar by getting the older one?

I don't know what the general cost is so it's hard to say. I'm not broke and make pretty good money.
I probably wouldn't want to spend over $600. Unless there would be a dope reason for me to splurge that makes it seem worth it.
But again I don't know the general cost so I'm not sure what I'm getting myself into. Thank you!

>>53831004
You might want to increase a bit because a decent gaming build is around $850-$1100.
You need a I5 or I5-K.
8-16GB RAM.
A really good Videocard, this will tell you how good your perfomance will be and around 50% of the budget.
A good HSF if you get a K CPU.
A SSD.
650-750W PSU.
Z97 motherboard for 1150 socket or Z170 for 1151.

err... you're right. He can cheap out on things like case or hard disk though if he doesn't give a fuck about noise or doesn't place it literally right next to him. Maybe an AMD cpu would be fine as well for half the price of an i5. Still, in total it would be about a ~$150 save.

Why does the RJ-22 jack need a different crimper from the RJ-11/12 jacks? I've compared the two and they look identical other than the amount of contacts. It looks like the same crimper should be able to do both.

I was thinking of a 750 watt PSU but people told me its an overkill, although I may want more fans in the future or something.
Can you dual boot android x86 on a windows tablet?
>>53831781
Shit motherboard.
You can get cheaper RAM.
Make a list with PC Partpicker.
750W is indeed overkill, your build needs a 650W PSU.
Why does Speccy make an HTTP connection to the internet when I open it?
>>53831793
Why is the motherboard shit mate.
Can you explain your reasoning, I'm not very experienced in these stuff.
Also what RAM would you suggest.
>>53831803
Speccy checks for updates every time you open it.
>>53831844
The motherboard is just bad in general.
Look for GA-Z97X-UD3H, ASUS Z97-A, MSI GAMING 5 if you are looking for Z97 motherboards.
Get a I5-4590, and since you are looking for a Z97 motherboard get a unlocked I5 like the 4690K.
PCpartpicker its not shit, helps finding cheap prices, try it on, make a list with your build.
>>53831781
Fans don't consume much. Keep in mind future intel processors and AMD gpus will be stronger and more power efficient. They'll most likely consume less than current gen esp the gpu. 650W should be plenty.
Also why are you going with old hardware? Newer ones cost pretty much the same.
Get an Asus Z170A, an i5-6500, a $60 128gb ssd for games/os, a cheap 5200-5400 rpm 1tb hdd for pictures/videos (go 7200 if you won't get an ssd), the cheapest case you can find with 4 frontal usb ports, cheap ram (8gb=$35), a $50-60 650w tougherpower or EVGA or xfx etc and you're set. Don't update the bios and you can overclock the cpu just fine if it need be. You can bump it up if you have more case i.e. 850 evo, case, ram.
>>53831844
Also take in consideration 1151 socket.
how do i get better syntax highlighting on nano?
>>53831973
A 1151 socket is a better investment because next gen intel will most likely use the same socket so you can upgrade the cpu to an i7 later on and get a nice boost when things become much more reliant on multithreading.
>>53831647
why is it an issue for you to use ctrl + click to select all the files you want to put in a specific directory and click maybe a maximum of three times on the directory tree to find the directory you want and move/cut/paste? maybe you have different standards but that seems pretty simple and easy to me

point is irfanview thumbnail is pointless if it just trades in one inconvenience for another, cant have multi window, cant bookmark folders, iffy file selection options

>>53832287
>haha nope, intel has done that like ONCE in the last 12 years.
Wasn't sure where I was going with the other post. Point is intel might do that, and if they don't then he can just get a cheap i7 that fits his socket a couple of years down the road and maintain a decent pc. Buying like 3-4 year old processors when the differences in price aren't that significant doesn't make much sense to me. Especially if the accompanying motherboards come in cheaper if you compare the price of a high-end z97 mobo to a newer mid-level one like the Asus Z170A with features like an m2 slot at 32gbit/s, can overclock great, ram oc up to he 4000mhz range, better sli/cf support, usb 3.1gen2/usb c, etc.
Is there like a /g/ overclock sticky or general or some shit.
>>53832493
Why exactly do you think a 6600 can't be overclocked?
>>53832443
Well I just figured since they didn't have their own power source that it was fine if they dried before plugging them back in.
I've done the same thing with keyboards that had stuck or double-triggering keys and they've worked fine after being soaked. Just let it dry for 24 hours.

I don't use SMS/Calling, at all. I use whatsapp and a few other chatting apps completely. I've been looking at chink shit phones and also I just stumbled across chatsim, and I'm a bit curious if there are any strings attached. If it works as advertised, this is exactly what I need. But I still don't see how it works. Before I was looking into this, I was just going to go with straight talk.

I'm looking at RAM; the mobo I'm getting supports clocks up to 2133 but the RAM I'm looking at has a max clock of 2400 and latency of 11. Now I know I can underclock the RAM but will that reduce the latency or am I better off getting a 2133 stick set with a lower latency?
>>53833893
I have other cracks that don't pop up, I'm not much of a techie so I don't know what to expect quite frankly
and I don't have the mb premium, just click to scan so it's not a problem
Building my own pc for the first time
Ordered parts where they were cheapest, which ended up just being either newegg or amazon anyway.
I chose the 7 day shipping on newegg and it arrived like hours later.
Amazon hasn't even processed the order and wont ship til the 6th, should i just cancel it and just order the rest of the parts from newegg?

>>53834052
You wanted to save some bucks right?
>>53834098
Wasn't that like the rest of whats left when you divide?
E.g. 9 mod 4 is 1 because 9 divided by 4 is not possible, but 8 divided by 4 is 2 with the rest, which is 1
>>53834151
Yes that's what it is, but I can't wrap my brain around it.
>>53834027
>different cracks are programmed differently
no fucking shit sherlock. and you're dumb if you scan cracks because that will most likely mean you cant use it without downloading again.
also you need to turn off your AV in most cases to use it, and it's not a problem if you download it from a legit source (like MDL forums)
>>53833958
your mobo will underclock it automatically.
it may or may not lower the latency, read the specs on the RAM.

Yeah, I fucked up. I know I fucked up too when I bought it since I just saw the price it had at the time and thought "wow that's really cheap" and then the parts came together and it was one of those moments where I'd realized I fucked up. It's possible for me to move it over, but, I need to readjust the fan. Which is possible on the fan I bought, just a bit of a hassle.
I mean it's turning on, I am getting power to it and I'm seeing everything turn on, LED, graphics card, HDD is on, etc. So I don't know what the issue could be at this point. I don't think it'd be an issue with the CPU, at least I hope not. It was a HUGE fucking pain in the ass to put that fan on solo.

ignoring the heatsink on the ram, you thought 144 bux for ram was cheap? dude that's full-retard. you paid almost 3 times as much for something that makes zero difference for performance unless you do some heavy database shit.

To be honest dude its the wrong time to build with AMD and Intel releasing new cpu's and gpu's later this year, the component's your debating will drop significantly in price when the new ones hit the market then you can debate components of higher spec with the same budget
how do i learn / get better at c++ (makefile, h cpp, files organization?, ...) without IDE, i wanna know what's happening
So i updated my amd gpu driver the other day and for the first time ever also installed the vulkan shit that came with it, however now my element3d in after effects stopped working completely all of a sudden because of it.
Every time i select one of the 3d models or attempt to load up a project containing said models in the comp timeline it just crashes saying "element 3d has encountered an unrecoverable error"... People are saying it has something to do with openGL support or something.
Should i like try to downgrade my driver to the previous release again? Theoretically it should work again afterwards, right? Because before i updated those drivers the thing worked perfectly and now this fucking error pops up all of a sudden smdh

It says right there#MOUSE_BTN2 cycle pause # toggle pause on/off
Just replace cycle pause with 'ignore' if you want to make that mouse button useless, like it also says there# Use 'ignore' to unbind a key fully (e.g. 'ctrl+a ignore').
you should really read the file, it's pretty well documented.

Also, this is what it says in the GPU information window, "GPU not available/incompatible driver".
I don't know whether it said that before too since i looked this info up the first time in AE just now because of this problem but since ele3d worked before too i assume it didn't. Basically the new driver seemed to have fucked the GPU recognition up in my AE config or something i think

they're just monitors. there are ultra-wide monitors without curve but i think there could be issues with the viewing angle on those and that's where the curve would be better i think.
that said, some ultrawide and some of the first curved screens are just 2-3 monitors edge-to-edge (without middle bezel) and you could sometimes see the edge with your naked eye, so make sure that's not happening on the one you're looking at

Go with the one that has the larger community unless your into loading custom ROMs, only reason I say this is because if your going to stick with the manufactures software regardless of spec a buggy os is much more irritating than the joy of performance gain, a larger community is more likely to complain and drive the manufacturer to fix the issues leading to a better functioning device, hope this helps man sorry if it doesn't make sense I'm stoned as fuck

Also i have that rollback option for the gpu driver available in device manager too, is that one more reliable than manually uninstalling/downgrading the display driver?

you get a few sata cables with the mobo (usually 4), and you get thermal paste with any aftermarket cooler (and it comes pre-applied on stock coolers)

>>53838105
No see, that's what gets me. Clearly my internet works, clearly the store can access the internet as they allow me to search and clicking on free items notifies me that I now own them.
I'm getting below room temperature's when my CPU idles, or is under an extremely light work load for it like video playback. It's on a stock cooler. Should I just overclock it? it's an fx 8350.
The below room temps have actually caused the system to reboot itself a few times. It's never happened when temps were above say, 40c, usually when playing a video game.
Yesterday, Netflix worked fine. Last night, it would just load indefinitely. Today, same thing, indefinitely loading. Nothing has changed, nothing has updated. Any ideas where I can start troubleshooting?
>>53838189
Works on my machineā¢. Try updating all of your software. it could also be that your internet connection is shit.
>>53838167
that makes no sense. it should not do that unless it's near zero (below 10) and it should not be able to dip that low unless you put the computer in the fridge.
what temp exactly are you getting on idle?

Tried turning off modem/router for a few minutes and then turning them back on. Internet is flawless in every other aspect, unless it's somehow just my connection to Netflix. How would I diagnose that if that's the case? All of my software is up-to-date.
>>53838257
Idle temps can be as low as 19c. Room is about 22c. I'm fairly certain it's causing condensation to form.
>>53838055
So what now?
>>53838302
hmm, I dunno, this is different. damn it. Cause my gmail voice never needed a spare. that was the whole point of getting a Gvoice
>>53838285
I should also point out that the only way I can get my system from restarting itself if I'm doing light workload like youtube binging - is to periodically run Witcher 3 in the background to "cook" the cpu and gpu a bit. If I do this - the system never crashes. If I don't - after about 20 minutes I get a random restart.
>>53838272
call your ISP and ask for traceroute instructions
>>53838285
nope, not high enough temp difference. and that temp should not cause issues.
and you can easily check if that's the case by putting a piece of toilet paper under the heatsink
also if that is the core temp, it's the inside of the CPU, it's impossible for condensation to occur in there.
try turning off the thing that lowers the cpu speed when idle. might be that the clock speed gets too low and cause an error

Can CMOS batteries go bad within 2 years? Time time on my computer isn't holding even after multiple Internet time syncs.
>>53840078
I mean, it's POSSIBLE, sure. Take it out and lick it, such that your tongue connects both sides. If you don't feel anything, it's dead. I've never seen a CMOS battery that isn't a CR2032, which is just a 3v button cell, so assuming it's not covered in corrosion(In which case, yeah, it's dead), it's safe. Fix your BIOS settings afterwards, that battery is usually what saves them.
>>53840120
Well I think its some kind of BIOS/Motherboard issue since the time in BIOS also gets changed and nothing within Windows should be able to change that, right?
>>53840152
You can flash your BIOS from within Windows, so I don't see why it wouldn't be possible to change the clock, but I'm not really sure.
>>53837472
Wew, so i finally got both the old drivers and element 3d running again now. What happened basically was that i accidentally uninstalled the 16.0-something crimson driver aka the newest one with the installer from the 15.0 version which i had downloaded already at that point, lawl
Needless to say this resulted in a veritable clusterfuck of falsely attributed file paths and truckloads of error messages of all kinds and when i finally figured out what the actual fuck was going on i thrashed the whole fucking thing in the device manager (even as the vga controller kept trying to re-install itself constantly after every reboot) and then just started anew with the 15.0 crimson drivers, which worked out in the end despite my oldass HDD almost dying from the stress and me having to readjust the ICM profiles afterwards aswell
Then when i loaded up AE again for the first time after the downgrade it just twitched around violently for a few seconds (it only did this once though, kinda like an adjustment or something) and i was extremely delighted to find out that ele3D and everything else was working fine again now. I think for the time being this was the last GPU driver update i've done on this machine lel
Recently, at some random point in time for reasons I can't comprehend, H264 just stopped working on my computer.
I use VideoPad for editing and lately everything I try to export fails right off the bat if I try to use H264 as my encoder.
This was never a problem before and I don't know what could have changed on my computer to make it stop working. A lot of stuff seemed to suddenly start working wrong or stop working altogether semi-recently for reasons unknown, which is scary enough, but this is one of the most annoying things.
Is there an easy way to fix this?
