Hey, i'm looking to upgrade my guts.
My PSU has become loud, and it's out of warranty. I tried stopping all fans except the PSU and unplugging all my drives and it's about 42dB loud which is too much for me in my tiny room. So i'm looking for a replacement. Whats good these days? I don't want to spend much more than 100$ and you can see in my speccy that I probarbly don't need more than 500W (?).
Also planning to remove my smaller drives and removing the top cage, any other ideas?

didn't like the poo color and plus the stock noctua fan is shit. could barely feel any pressure. so i slapped two cooler master silencio 2400's on them. maxes out at 2400rpm. just as quiet as the noctua (1500rpm both are identical in noise, 2400 just barely louder) but produces a lot more static pressure.

sorry anon, I must have missed it. I try to rate everyone atleast once. You'll need to get braided extensions for that PSU. I don't think you really need a new PSU cooler, the Hyper 212 is perfectly fine unless you're going for extreme overclocking. The Dark Rock 3 and h110i are good choices, a lot of people recommend the DH-D15

Hi, >>53828742 here. It depends on your components. If you're running a loud fan and loud HDDs, it's not gonna help you out. But if you have quiet fans already on a good temp curve, it'll silence their already-low noise level. I dunno what case fans you have in there, but if they're loud, I'd first replace them with some Corsair quiet editions or Noctuas.

I have some AF120 quiet editions hooked up to a 7v molex to 3pin. They're dead silent, cheap as shit (I got LED ones for £5 each on sale, normally 7-8) and transport shit-tonnes of air. If I flick it up to 12v they're audiable but reduce temps by over 10'c on my GPU

Oh yeah, that'll do it. I use http://www.amazon.com/Corsair-AF140-Quiet-Single-CO-9050009-WW/dp/B007RESGGC/ but other quiet fans with good ratings will work well for you too. The H110i will come with two loud as fuck fans that you'll want to replace ASAP, as well. Remember to get airflow fans for your case intake/exhaust but static pressure fans for your radiator fans if you do get the H110i.

My mother insisting on wating a laptop, so I decided to get a thinkpad x220 for 230 $ which suited perfectly her needs ( 90% browser use for email, online shop administration, pictures handeling/uploading ).
But then I just realized this, since she doesn't care about portability and the laptop was going to forever sit in the same place - would it be better If I build a small computer and pair it with a second hand cheap screen?
It might be the better solution over all, but my problem start here, since needs are minimal and she wanted something small - I wonder what types of small PC cases are there? Can you people that use or know of them enlighten me? Give me some names, some types or would a Mini PC be better? It would be obviously more expensive and more hassle so I don't really see how that would be viable.
