Are there any good chairs for around $300? I was a bit shocked at how much better my office chair is than the piece of shit I have at home so I'm thinking about getting a new one.

Check out used office furniture stores. They buy stuff in bulk, recondition stuff that needs it, and sell it at a deep discount.
I bought a Steelcase Criterium for something like $120 - $150. It was in pretty much like-new condition. I think they sold new for around $600.
