Literally what is the point of not using GUI?
i grew up and finally realized that Mac OS X was for real work, and the nectar of true gentlemen
all of my Office 2016 apps work fine on it, and i can post on all of my favorite charity sites. even my wife's son uses it for educating materials.

In my case it was the other way around. I resisted GUI for years but during the last decade I ended up switching over. It does feel like a bad habit (like using a car instead of a bike, or worse) but what can you do... GUIs are everywhere now.

usually doing the same action faster and without having to even look at the screen much. GUIs often take up video memory and make a program run slower, or limit your options. Sometimes you even have to stop and wait for animations or slowly scroll down long lists using the mouse or the like.

Dropping GUI is becoming more and more tempting with all these fucking horrible design concepts geared towards tablets and touch interfaces being rolled out to desktop applications.
Gigantic buttons, lack of keyboard shortcuts, swipe mechanics, all this shit is getting nauseating and it completely obliterates my workflow.
Use OSX when it's the best thing for the job,
use Windows when it's the best thing for the job,
use Linux when it's the best thing for the job,
use a GUI when it's the best thing for the job,
use the terminal when it's the best thing for the job,
use a text editor when it's the best thing for the job,
use an IDE when it's the best thing for the job,

I primarily use gui applications because they make things easier.
If a text application does the same thing just as easy, I use that.
Visual feedback is really good for a lot of things.
Eg changing the color of something by a color dialog or selecting between options using a dropdown.
It makes sense in a lot of situations.

I still GUI, but with a (by modern standards) low res laptop (1024x768) I can get a lot more information on the screen at once, as well as use far less resources. A virtual desktop with urxvt and a multiplexor running a music player, email client, text editor, and whatever minor program I need uses less of my minimal resources than just a single one of those applications in a GUI.

Mostly I like the meta+D menu and the whole idea of being able to stack the window tiles with meta+shift+arrow shortcuts, but I'd like to do it within a stacking context (kinda like Win7 handles it, but more thoroughly)
