KDE is getting better at each updates.
It is quite surprising though. Kubuntu was glitchy as hell. I installed KDE on Arch but it performs faster and more stable Kubuntu in every single way.

I think the issue rises when you depend too much on gtk applications

Furthermore KDE is adopting wayland really soon (ootb wayland support). It is under active development.

Yeah I like gnome's interface (and apps) more. They feel more "polished" compared to KDE's apps. Most GTK2 and GTK3 programs also look very consistent with each other compared to QT programs in plasma to me.

Numix theme +numix circle icons is the easy formula to beautify any GTK based desktop environment.

>>53797284
One of the things that frustrates me about Gnome though is that they have an autistic vendetta against thumbnails in the file picker.

How long was that ago? it has got better, plasma 5.4 was still bad and until 5.5 was acceptable, 5.6 is fine in general except for some visual quirks. I'm using arch.

>>53798311

youre completely incorrect.
he does NOT have thumbnails, Im assuming youre calling the image-preview a thumbnail, which is completely wrong.
icon view and thumbnail view are 2 distinct views; "thumbnail view" shows larger higher resolution icons than "icon view".

Even "list view" can have thumbnails

Yes, thanks for saying the same thing I did. GtkFileChooser presents you with a list view complete with (small) thumbnails. The actual issue is that there is no icon view like there is in nautilus, which is what people who select images want.

Enterprise distros use GNOME but I think the choice of DE in an actual enterprise environment is arbitrary.

Most of the things are probably done within the CLI

Although I really appreciate GNOME for wayland development. KDE is also going to adopt wayland soon. KDE people also have their contributions, not as much as GNOME though
