Oculus installs a service called OVRServerx64.exe which has full administrative rights and stays connected to Facebook.
>>53791358
A piece of hardware supported by a botnet company installs a botnet. Holy fucking shit, I am so shocked.
>>53791358
have you tried to lock it ?
>>53791358
ok but if you're gonna complain about botnets maybe don't use Windows.
So what are the implications here?
>>53791358
So how does it feel to be Zuckerberg's bitch?
>>53791358
HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA
SOMEONE TELL ME THIS IS A JOKE
Oculus is owned by Facebook and obviously they use the Facebook CDN. Being a CDN instead of a normal server, it's most likely used to distribute updates or some other kind of data, i.e. not used to upload anything.
So nothing to see here, just paranoid /g/.
>>53791445
I don't own a VR headset.
>>53791460
Yup that's why it's got over 9000 connections. Just listening for "updates". That must be it.
>>53791481
>I don't know how TCP works
>>53791491
I do, and there's no reason it needs that many fucking sockets open at all times for "updates".
>>53791358
All Oculus VR content is hosted by Facebook by any chance?
sigh
>>53791358
Just block fbcdn.net ffs
>noo it's a botnet guise XD
>windows
Do people on /g/ seriously not know what a CDN is
Are you aware that there's an entire steam-like client running
b-but I'm ALPHA in VR

>>53791460
A. You agree being KIKEBERG little gullible bitch
B. You agree being monitored while you fap on non-existent anime waifus
C. You agree running a resident botnet, so KIKEBERG can laff at your goyish gullibiblity
PLZ;
>>53791358
I think it is good that Mark is making sure bad people don't use oculus machine to watch child pornography.
Is this just bait or do you seriously believe that facebook is stupid enough to just break the law like that in plain sight?
Are you aware they have driver-level access on your system?
F
Sorry, something went wrong.
We're working on it and we'll get it fixed as soon as we can.

Hahahahah what a disgrace
>>53791522
There's no reason for it to need that many sockets open to spy on you either.

Nothing of that is in the fucking ToS. If Facebook does it they could be sued.

>CDN
look at the screenshot again, it also connects to facebook.com
>I wonder if Vive is going to be in constant contact with Steam
You will succumb to the botnet one way or another eventually
The real question is who do you trust more, a jew or gaben?
>>53800010
gaben is also a jew.
>>53791358
I wish all you skiddies would actually make an attempt to see what's inside the packets before screaming "botnet" at a process that hyperactively checks for updates. Wireshark is a thing that exists, use it.
>>53800020
only in the figurative sense
So what's it sending then dumbass?
>>53791460
lol yeah why would anybody suspect facebook of gathering data you paranoid idiots
