I have a choice between these two monitors

I want something I can play my steam games on. Most likely I'll end up streaming them to the tv or something. I've tried to find out input lag information but to no avail. The VIZIO actually has some people say it's input lag is 29.5ms or other good sounding speeds but the reviews that do say that don't seem that trustworthy.

If anyone has experience with these companies/models/etc and can help I'd appreciate the advice.

Post more of those titties first and then maybe I'll give you advice.

Not sure if I have more of her but I can look around.

Have you never owned a computer before? 32" is way too god damn big for anything unless you're sitting across the room. Get a 24" or 27" panel.

I'll be on the couch. I have way too many steam games at this point and a few multiplayer ones I'd like to play with my wife.

Being able to play them on the couch in the living room would be nice and we'd probably play games together more.

All I found from the manufacturer on input lag was:

"the input lag is not a publish specification but that most reviewers that use the TV for gaming have found the TV to be responsive and are pleased with their gaming experience."

Which is really unhelpful.

The Vizio one is a "smart tv" and I've heard people dislike smart tv's for playing games.

Do smart tv's inhibit things or are they objectively worse in some aspects?

I've heard people complain about anything over 3, wouldn't advise that mate.

Isn't it lower the better?

I saved a text from another /g/ thread where someone said

"Anything under 40ms is acceptable, but not great. 20ms range is very good. You won't get much better on a big screen TV."

Thanks for the info

Yes, lower is better. 30ms is unacceptable. By 20 range, they meant under 20.
>>
>>53780937
>Isn't it lower the better?
Yes.

>"Anything under 40ms is acceptable, but not great. 20ms range is very good. You won't get much better on a big screen TV."
This is correct, for large TV's. It's much different for desktop monitors, which are what's used to play more response-demanding games, which leads me to my next point: most games you play probably won't depend so much on ~20ms of response time. Just don't play CS:GO or Quake on your TV and you should be good.

>>53780959
30ms is unacceptable for a desktop monitor but is decent for a large TV.

hmm kind of tough then either a bad lag rate for the vizio or a lag rate I can't find any information on for the TCL.
>>
So here is where I'm at.

At the moment I know the lag for the Vizio is around 30ms and can find no data on the TCL.

On the other hand the TCL is 40-in vs the Viz's 32-in.

Should I just go for the TCL for the size and hope for the best via lag? Unless anyone else had really bad experiences with TCL I might end up doing that.

>>53781077
lower-end lcd TV generally have better/acceptable input lag since they don't have built-in image processing/motion stabilizer chips.
>>
>>53781318
You can usually disable that. Samsung calls it Game Mode and a whole room of lolsmash players agree it wasn't placebo.

>>53780621
TVs aren't going to tell you shit about input lag, it's not a concern for their target market. As long as the audio syncs with the video they don't care how long it takes.

You want acceptable input lag, buy a monitor.

"smart"ness in a TV is bullshit. Just means it has a few crappy apps installed.

but the problem you face by buying a TV for games is the fact that they have heaps of processing on the video pipeline. Colour processing, frame smoothing, shit like that. It can add like 100ms, and sometimes you can't turn it off.

They will both have terrible input lag if you're trying to use them as a monitor. I will say that the TCL has a terrible image processor compared to the Vizio. I have seen both models at Nebraska Furniture Mart and the Vizio destroys the TCL in image reproduction.

Thanks, I think in the end I'll have to pick the Vizio. We'll be going to a brick and mortor store to look at 32-in screens to make sure it'll work for us but I think that's the one we'll end up with.
