I read somewhere that they are making them personally, like the employees at the rpi foundation make them by hand so they can't keep up with the insane demand.

Talks about production scaling on the rpi0. There's an interview with one of the head guys talking about production of the 3 versus the 2 somewhere, but I can't find it immediately on a Google search so if someone else is industrious link it here.
