A full KDE desktop provides more features than windows and uses less than a third of the disk space windows used.
It can use the same amount of ram if you configure it that way but you can also make it really light if you don't want all the features.
Compared to vista and above, KDE is much more responsive, configurable and easy to use.
If you can't configure KDE, you shouldn't be using Linux at all.

Real question here G, should I try kde, or maybe openbox? In the past I've used lxde, xfce, and mate, but I've never needed any of the fancy graphics features and twm runs really well on just about anything, I even use it on my old IBM desktop from before the days of gui (mostly just a for-fun computer, I don't do any serious work on it anymore). It's just so simple and dignified, every time I run a different window manager it feels like I'm being slowed down by extra clicks and whatever processing power is being wasted rendering so much detail.

Because I skipped it as I went down the rabbit hole. I have long since done away with all DE and I am about to drop the last of the WM and go full CLI. Because I'm using Windows 10 on my desktop, having accepted the inevitability of botnet. When I'm on a laptop I'm either using Ubuntu with Unity, or another distro with either XFCE or Openbox.
KDE is pretty, sure, but it's a bit heavy. If I'm going to use something heavy, I'd rather have Unity which, to me, feels like more polished. Otherwise, I'm going to cut down on resources used as much as I am comfortable doing.
