I have a shitty n-300 wireless adapter to connect to wifi, but I don't think Ubuntu supports it. How can I make it work on Ubuntu or Debian without connecting a ethernet cable to my PC and downloading shit?

If its some obscure brand it probably wont work.
You should always buy a namebrand like TP-link or Alfa etc because they use well known broadcom and atheros chips.
You could ask in the ubuntu forums, Or try another distro with a newer kernel, If that doesn't work then drivers are probably not available for it.

If it doesn't work with ubuntu, it won't work at all. They use a binary blob filled kernel.
Almost no wireless works with debian out of the box you need the nonfree firmware package. Btw don't bother installing with the nonfree firmware live cd because it won't even install it, only uses it to install the system, because debian devs are retarded.
