The case is low quality
The screen is passable (Barring your dead pixels obv)
The sound quality however, so long as you have EQ turned OFF, is actually really really good for a pocket DAP, combine that with the FLAC playback and good ability to drive (Not sure what the volume issue you're having is, you trying to push some massive fucking cans?) means that for the price this is a fantastic music player.
The 1.7 beta fixes a multitude of problems, totally overhauls the UI, implements EASY MODE to fix the control issues you mentioned... The whole point of getting an X02 is to flash it with the A02 firmware. Sorry for the hostile tone earlier.
Not much can be done about the pixels and dodgy 3.5mm socket but update the firmware and give it another chance.

They just started today. It's funny because Xiaomi literally means "little rice" in chinese, but it's taken them years to come out with a rice cooker. (well i guess not that funny). Would have been a good deal with 30% GB points though. Will probably wait now for reviews or just get a nice japanese cooker.
