Anyone has made android apps? Any success stories? I have an idea for an app which hasnt been created yet, contemplating on making one.
I made Textra, it's a pretty successful SMS app

Well you carry on thinking about that app then instead of making it, OP

I tried but there is way too many errors even just starting a new project.
Android Studio is more fucked up than visual studio. Some people say eclipse is the better but i have yet to try.
what's the idea?

just fucking kill yourself

Encyclopedia / indexing of trees, plants, fungi identification by variables. Select color, texture, etc. To narrow down the options to find what tou are looking for faster.
I tried. Android studio is so frustrating that I quit.

That is pretty specialized app, dont expect wide adoption. Android only?

Maybe web based would be easier to code and then covert to android. But currently leaning to android only. Not familiar nor fond of iOS.

Using textra currently, great app!

Who is your target audience? Primary, high school. University?
Is this more fore home desk application or for outside field use?
I did this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.salokoski.janne.dice
It's a modern take on a dice app, done mainly because there was no well featured and good looking dice apps, so i decided to make one.
> Any success stories
No. I created it for my own use, but thought I could share it if others like it. Judging by the ten downloads by my friends, I wouldn't call it a hit, although I never intended it to be.
>>53716720
I made this as a webapp and then I run it through an android webview.

Doesn't sound useful desu. It's easier to navigate an encyclopedia at home on a PC.
It would be cool if I could just take a picture of a tree and you tell me what it is. But that's near impossible.

I use textra all the time. Great app m8
Made 2 games, one hardcore and one casual and no one gave a shit so I stopped giving a shit about programming for Android
>>53716208
Any plan to port it to a real platform like iOS anytime soon?
>>53717147
link please
Anyone used Xamarin (.Forms) ? Is it worth the shekels?

Wait, MS just bought xamarin so maybe it will make it free for small developers like it did with VS.

Cool app bruv. Make that 11 downloads.
>>53717214
you must realize that they both look like shit, first one especially visually and the second one looks like a no effort piece of shit
take it as an insult, I don't care
>>53716720
You have very specific app so if I were you i would target as wide as possible. Android, iOS, Windows. There is a lot of ipads, iphones out there. There are a lot of windows PC that school kids, students use.
IMO if you are a developer you look forward to learning new language, frame works. It will only open you new doors in the future.

Primary for people who go /out/ and maybe who are into biology. The idea arose since I was looking for an app like that but most are shit with lack of search options and only with double digit entries in the database.
>>53716887
I was thinking anout it, but people would probably want offline access to the database.
>have the ability to make apps
>don't have any ideas
android users never ever pay for any shit!

Because we don't have to. Problem?
