The dock in El Capitan looks exactly like that by default so, the OP didn't change shit.
The fact that it's a VM means nothing because even on a real Mac it still looks just like that after a clean installation.

well, you should open the appstor, download original OS X.dmg, get clover and make an install USB for a hackintosh
running OSX in vm environment makes 0 snese, you dont even have 3d feateres/quartz (opaque dock) and it probably lags like hell

On a related not, can we talk a second about HOW MUCH LIKE SHIT osx looks on non-retina screens since 10.10?
Their shitty Helvetica/San Francisco fonts are not made for computer screens. They are too slim, they are blurry and due to the overall design they have shit contrast.
The black-white/slightly greyish contrast + the relatively thick Lucida Grande up to 10.9 looked wonderful, but now your eyes get sore from all the blurryiness and lack of contrast.
At least in 10.10 you could change the font back to Lucida Grande relatively easily but in 10.11 they fucked you over even more.

No. No, it does not. In fact, I just checked and there isn't even an option to make it opaque. And even if there was an option, *all* official screenshots from Apple have a semi-transparent Dock AND the OP confirmed that VMware can't into GPU acceleration.
