In September 2007, I was imprisoned for aggravated assault on a minor. (kid keyed my car and I took his skateboard and hit him over the head with it, fractured his skull.)
I just got out a week ago, and wanted to look at what tech has become. I spent a little research and got my brother to help me install a extra copy of windows 7 (like it so far, cleaner edges to icons and bars than vista) he had on a new computer.
I remembered 4chan, and saw the tech board. I was always into tech, but I am definitely left in the dust. So, since you'll are here what should I learn/ look into?

In 2008 Intel released Nehalem. The i7 920 became the most popular of this line. Think core 2 Duo but better. That line became the basis of all current cpu's. New ones are just smaller and more efficient.
In 2010 Intel made an affordable ssd that was fast. This began the area of having two drives. An OS ssd drive and a terabyte storage drive.
Samsung eventually took the crown from Intel with ssd drives and made their own much faster affordable SSD's.
SSD's became faster than their interfaces. Better than sata 2 or 3, so Intel created a pci-e version of the ssd. Samsung saw this as shit and put their money into M.2 drives. A wicked fast pci-e system that can communicate almost directly with the cpu. In 2015 Samsung finally made m.2 drives affordable with the 950/951 lines. Now motherboards can easily boot the OS from the m.2 drive.
