I have one of these Blackwidow boards that I got for Christmas. I'm thinking of getting some custom keycaps.
I can see the bottom row (and probably the macro buttons) are nonstandard. Would it be silly to just replace the WASD and a few of the number keys (and maybe tab) for "mug gayms"? The factory keycaps are kinda slippery, and I feel like they're going to shine within only a couple more months. PBT caps seem nice but I've never used them.
It's not Cherry switches, but as far as I know, Razer used their expired patents to clone Blues. Should be compatible right?

It's kind of ridiculous actually. I have a big desk, so it's not too much of an issue, but yeah, design is kind of shit. I never use the macro keys either.
The only reason I haven't sold this on craigslist / ebay is because the switches are actually rather nice. It's a clone of Blue but with supposedly a higher up actuation point. It genuinely feels nice when playing games. It's also pretty nice for typing sessions too. I like the usb passthrough too, though that's a common feature on cheaper boards as well.
I rate this thing 6/10. It's a mixed bag, and was pretty pricey. Only buy if you really buy into the Razer Green switches.

all mechanical keyboards have long travel save for logitech's romer shit, but people say those are mushy.
what you should do is get a board with greens (loud)/clears (quiet) and train yourself not to bottom out the keys. that's how you get short travel on a mech. you can also install o-rings or rubber dampeners that literally stop the key from going all the way down, but can end up making them feel slightly mushy if you hard bottom

just about any keyboard is quite fine for gaymen purposes. Get the cooler master, corsair a shit.
