Firefox and its memory leaks and crashing are really starting to wear on me. What browser alternatives are there? As far as I can tell, if I want actual usability and compatibility, I've either got to use something Firefox-based, which I'm getting more and more reticent about given that I'm already on a Firefox-based fork (Cyberfox), or something Chrome-based, which I'm not opposed to but even for a normie like me, I don't like Chrome's policy on privacy.
Am I stuck with something like Iridium or Sleipnir?
Wow, never mind about Sleipnir, that's such a terrible interface.

wat? firefox has been worse than chrome privacy wise for over a year now.

[citation needed]
>even iridium has shitty 'log into google profile' button on the titlebar
my instincts tell me life shouldn't be so horrible
>>53694585
As someone who's using Chrome, stop using shitty addons and you'll have less memery leeks and crashing. Vanilla Furryfox runs well.

What fucks with its performance on my computer isn't addons, it's basic shit like watching videos.

well, maybe upgrade your toaster

can't it's already too dank, T420
>>53695116
dude my x61 handles Firefox flawlessly, something isn't right on your end.
pale moon and iridium

The only times firefox lags for me is when I reload 4chan catalog. Never know why, i guess because of 4chanx+oneechan running

We 2009 again?
In case this is actually serious and not just troll/shill:
make a clean install of the latest version (64-bit) along with a clean profile. It should work well.

Use opera.
>chrome without the shitty ui
>still has tab groups
>better syncing
If you're going to swap to a chrome-based browser, Opera is the best one, in terms of actually using it.

does it have ublock origin?
>>53694585
Vivaldi
>>53697208
Yes. Although the new version has a built in adblocker too.

>more resource hungry over time
Nah m8, I'm fine.
>>53697237
okay you have me interested
who does it sell my asshole pix to?
>>53697266
No idea, I haven't bothered checking the network yet. The mobile and desktop versions do have an option to pipe all your data through their servers for compression to save data usage, but that's disabled by default on desktop and easily disabled on mobile.
>>53697356
well, id switch, cause that sounds like everything i need, but i don't feel good about potential botnets and whatnot. /g/ kinda ruined me with that.

It's pretty trivial to redirect any "phone home" attempts to 0.0.0.0 in your hosts gone. I don't really care either way though, use whatever browser you like best.
>>53697662
>It's pretty trivial
i'd like to know how, but still, rather would not have my browser scream for help to some ad company
>>53697731
>look at network traffic
>google anything that looks suspicious
>if it looks ad or telemetry related, add a line to your hosts file redirecting any attempts to connect to that address to 0.0.0.0
Or block it through your firewall.
>>53697781
>look at network traffic
is there an easy way to do that on windows?
>>53697831
Google it. Windows comes with some basic tools for it and you can download other ones if you need to.
>>53697846
alrighty then
>>53697831
>install gentoo
>>53697831
Wireshark
